Chief Economist - SIDBIPosition Title: Chief EconomistLocation: Mumbai, IndiaOverview:- We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Chief Economist to join our leading financial institution.- Our organization is dedicated to promoting, financing, and developing Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) across India.- As the Chief Economist, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the economic and financial strategy of the institution, with a specific focus on the MSME sector.- This role demands a deep understanding of both national and international economic landscapes, a strategic vision for the MSME ecosystem, and strong leadership capabilities.Key Responsibilities:Strategic Inputs to Top Management:- Provide Strategic Insights: Offer actionable insights to the Banks top management based on comprehensive analysis of economic trends and financial indicators.Evaluate Economic Indicators:- Analyze and evaluate national and international economic and financial indicators to assess their impact on various markets and asset classes.Understand MSME Ecosystem:- Leverage a deep understanding of MSMEs and their ecosystem in India and globally to guide strategic decisions.Macroeconomic and Sectoral Analysis:- Macroeconomic Trends: Provide strategic inputs on macroeconomic trends and developments in the banking and MSME sectors.- Influence Strategy: Shape the Banks strategy and policy formulation through insightful macroeconomic and sectoral analysis.Policy Interpretation and Representation:- Economic Policy Analysis: Interpret and analyze economic policies and their implications for the institution and the broader economy.- Representation: Represent the Banks views on national and international economic matters to key stakeholders, including government bodies and regulatory authorities.Leadership of Economic Research Wing:- Lead Research Efforts: Lead and enhance the capabilities of the Economic Research Wing, focusing on detailed analysis of the MSME and banking sectors.- Support Business Functions: Provide valuable support to the Banks business and development functions through the publication of reports, commentaries on economic situations, sectoral insights, and other research publications.Research and Database Management:- Strengthen Research Capabilities: Improve research and database management capabilities within the institution.- Promote Research Culture: Foster a research-driven approach within the organization to support strategic decision-making.Financial Market Monitoring:- Monitor Financial Markets: Continuously monitor financial markets and interest rate movements to provide timely insights.- Interest Rate Outlook: Offer inputs on the interest rate outlook to the Asset-Liability Committee (ALCO) of the Bank.- Evaluate Market Impact: Analyze national and international economic and financial indicators to evaluate their impact on various markets and asset classes.Qualifications:Educational Background: Masters degree or higher in Economics, Finance, or a related field. A Ph.D. or advanced qualification is preferred.Experience: Minimum of 15 years of experience in economic analysis, with significant exposure to macroeconomic trends, financial markets, and MSME sectors.Skills:- Strong analytical and strategic thinking abilities.- Proven track record in leading research teams and managing large-scale economic research projects.- Excellent communication and presentation skills for articulating complex economic concepts to diverse audiences.- Deep understanding of national and international economic policies and their implications for financial institutions.Personal Attributes:- Strategic vision and ability to provide high-level economic insights.- Leadership and ability to drive a research-driven culture.- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.- Ability to represent the institution effectively in high-stakes discussions.
