Were Hiring: Electrical Design Engineer HV/EHV SubstationLocation: Chembur Company: Sterling and Wilson Employment Type: Permanent Qualification: B.E. / B.Tech in Electrical Engineering Experience: 7 Years plus*Job Purpose*Electrical Engineer with experience in HV/EHV Substation Engineering, including detailed engineering and layout preparation for both AIS and GIS substations. Responsible for design development, technical evaluations, engineering calculations, and coordination with customers and internal stakeholders for successful project execution.*Roles & Responsibilities*Key Responsibility AreasObjective Key Responsibilities (OKRs)Preparation of Single Line Diagrams (SLDs) based on project specifications and customer requirements.Development of AIS and GIS substation layouts.Technical evaluation and comparison of equipment offered by various OEMs.Coordination and discussions with customers for engineering clarifications and drawing approvals.Preparation of cable layouts, cable routing plans, and cable schedules.Earthing system design, calculations, and layout preparation.Design and calculation of Direct Stroke Lightning Protection (DSLP) systems.Illumination design and lighting layout preparation using applicable standards and software.Preparation and review of engineering documents in compliance with project requirements and industry standards.*Team Manager Responsibilities*Provide technical guidance and support required for successful completion of engineering activities.Coordinate with cross-functional teams to resolve technical issues and ensure timely project execution.Support continuous improvement initiatives and knowledge sharing within the team.*Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)*Compliance: Ensure all designs comply with applicable IS, IEC, IEEE, and client-specific standards.Documentation: Prepare and maintain accurate engineering calculations, drawings, material lists, and project records.Quality Control: Review and verify engineering deliverables for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to company standards.Schedule Adherence: Deliver engineering outputs within project timelines.Customer Satisfaction: Obtain timely approvals and effectively address customer comments and queries.Organizational AccountabilitiesExecute engineering activities in line with project schedules, quality requirements, and organizational objectives.Collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure smooth project delivery.Contribute to process improvement and standardization initiatives.*Job Qualifications and Requirements*Knowledge and Experience48 years of experience in HV/EHV substation engineering and design.Experience in AIS and GIS substation projects.Familiarity with utility, transmission, and EPC project requirements.*Education and Certifications*Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering.Proficiency in AutoCAD and relevant engineering software.Experience with:Dialux (Illumination Design)Grounding/Earthing Calculation SoftwareDSLP/Lightning Protection Design SoftwareInterpersonal SkillsStrong coordination and communication skills.Ability to work effectively with Civil, Protection & Control, Project Management, Procurement (SCM), contractors, suppliers, and customers.Good presentation and technical discussion skills.*Attitude | Key Competencies*Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.Attention to detail and commitment to engineering quality.Customer-focused approach.Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet project deadlines.Team-oriented mindset with strong collaboration skills.Proactive and self-driven attitude.Adaptability to changing project requirements.Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
