Job Description

    Company: New Age General Insurance Firm.Role: Group Health Underwriter.Location: Mumbai.Work day: 5.Key Responsibilities:
    • Own group underwriting risk assessment for new business, renewals, mid-term material changes and non-standard benefit requests within delegated authority.
    • Establish minimum census, internal pricing benchmark, claim and experience-data standards; determine the underwriting treatment of incomplete or unreliable data.
    • Assess demographic mix, claims experience, large losses, benefit design, parent/voluntary exposure, anti-selection and concentration risk.
    • Apply approved pricing outputs and determine underwriting terms, conditions, warranties, restrictions and risk adjustments within authority.
    • Maintain clear separation between technical price, underwriting-approved price and final commercial price, with documented deviations and approvals.
    • Own group referral logic, complexity bands, authority thresholds, reinsurance referrals and precedent-setting cases.
    • Build a disciplined renewal underwriting process focused on remediation of adverse experience rather than administrative repricing.
    • Partner with Actuarial on pricing inputs and experience interpretation, while retaining underwriting ownership of risk acceptance and terms.
