Position Overview: We are seeking a highly competent and motivated Purchase Manager to oversee the procurement and sourcing activities for our steel piping export and import company. As the Purchase Manager, you will play a critical role in ensuring a steady and reliable supply of high-quality steel piping materials. Your responsibilities will involve vendor management, cost optimization, contract negotiation, and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers. This position requires strong industry knowledge, strategic thinking, and effective leadership to support the growth and success of our company.Key Responsibilities:
1. Procurement Strategy and Planning:
• Develop and implement effective procurement strategies aligned with the companys objectives and market trends.
• Collaborate with the management team to establish annual procurement plans, considering budget constraints and projected demand.
2. Vendor Management:
• Identify, evaluate, and onboard reliable suppliers of steel pipes, tubes, flanges, fittings, plates & sheets materials, both domestically and internationally.
• Maintain strong relationships with existing suppliers, negotiating favorable terms, pricing, and contractual agreements.
3. Cost Optimization:
• Conduct market research to identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising on the quality of steel piping materials.
• Implement cost control measures and supplier performance evaluation mechanisms.
4. Quality Assurance and Compliance:
• Ensure that all procured steel piping materials meet the required quality standards and certifications.
• Comply with international and regional regulations governing steel piping imports and exports.
5. Contract Negotiation:
• Lead negotiations with suppliers to secure favorable terms, competitive pricing, and long-term agreements.
• Draft and review contracts to protect the companys interests and maintain a clear understanding of rights and obligations.
6. Inventory Management:
• Collaborate with the logistics and inventory teams to optimize stock levels and minimize holding costs.
• Forecast demand and work with suppliers to manage lead times effectively.
7. Continuous Improvement:
• Stay updated with industry trends, advancements, and new suppliers to enhance the companys competitive advantage.
• Implement best practices and process improvements to streamline procurement operations.
8. Team Leadership and Development:
• Lead and mentor a team of procurement professionals, fostering a collaborative and results-driven work environment.
• Conduct performance evaluations and provide training to enhance the teams skills.
Qualifications and Skills:
• Proven experience in procurement, specifically within the steel piping industry.
• In-depth knowledge of steel piping materials, specifications, and quality standards.
• Strong negotiation and contract management skills to ensure favorable terms and conditions.
• Familiarity with international trade regulations, import/export laws, and customs procedures related to steel piping.
• Analytical mindset with the ability to analyze market trends, pricing data, and supplier performance metrics.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• Strong leadership qualities with the ability to guide a team and drive performance.
• Proficiency in relevant computer applications and procurement software.
