Job Description

    Job Title: Technical Superintendent (Job Ref. No. hidden_mobile5)Industry: Education / TrainingFunctional Area: IT Infrastructure ManagementNo. of Vacancies: 2 (SC-1, UR-1)Educational Qualification & Experience:
    • Option 1: B.E./B.Tech/MCA/M.Sc in Computer Science, Engineering, or Information Technology with at least 1 year of relevant post-degree experience.
    • Option 2: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field with at least 4 years of relevant post-degree experience.
    Essential Skills & Experience:
    • Strong expertise in Linux system administration.
    • Proficient in the installation and maintenance of various internet services such as LDAP, DNS, email, Apache, etc., with a solid understanding of open-source technologies.
    • Experience using Ansible for managing large-scale desktop environments.
    • Solid knowledge of networking, including VLAN configuration.
    • Proficiency in Bash shell scripting and/or Python for task automation.
    • Familiarity with server monitoring tools such as Nagios or Zabbix.
    • Experience with Proxmox or other virtualization technologies.
    • Ability to work independently and take initiative.
    Job Profile:The selected candidate will join the IT infrastructure team of the Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) Department at IIT Bombay. Key responsibilities include:
    • Install, configure, and troubleshoot Linux-based systems.
    • Install and maintain internet services such as LDAP, DNS, Email, Apache, and others.
    • Manage the CSE teaching labs, including room bookings and software installations using Ansible prior to each event.
    • Oversee the departments network infrastructure, including configuring VLANs for different rooms and addressing network issues (wired and wireless) within CSE buildings.
    • Create and manage IITB and CSE LDAP accounts, and provide email access to new users.
    • Continuously monitor system health and performance.
    • Plan and assist with server, network, and desktop computing purchases and upgrades.
    • Provide technical support for servers and systems, resolving user complaints and issues effectively.
    • Develop and maintain shell scripts to automate routine administrative tasks.
    • Ensure system security by addressing vulnerabilities, applying patches and updates, and managing SSL certificate installations.
    • Work collaboratively with team members while demonstrating the ability to work independently.
    • Manage backup and recovery processes for critical systems.
