Job Description

    Job Position: Technical superintendentTechnical Officer (Scale-I)Industry: Education / TrainingLocation: IIT Bombay, Powai, Mumbai 400 076No. of Vacancies: 1 (UR-1)IIT Bombay is seeking a Technical Officer (Scale-I) for its technical operations. The selected candidate will play a key role in managing and maintaining specialized equipment related to liquid helium and liquid nitrogen systems, refrigeration systems, and other high-tech infrastructure. Responsibilities include:
    • Operating and maintaining Liquid Helium and/or Liquid Nitrogen plants.
    • Hands-on involvement in the erection, repair, and troubleshooting of refrigeration systems.
    • Managing helium transfer lines and filling helium dewars.
    • Maintaining and repairing air compressors, dryers, water chillers, and high-pressure lines.
    • Handling high-pressure piping, tubing, and vessels, ensuring all systems are functioning optimally.
    • Working with vacuum pumps, leak detection systems, and resolving technical issues.
    • Overseeing electrical components of the above equipment to ensure smooth operations.
    Educational Qualification and Experience:
    • B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with at least 55% marks (or equivalent GPA), with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience, including:
      • 3 years of experience at Level 7 (44,900 1,42,400) OR
      • 1 year at Level 8 (47,600 1,51,100)OR
    • M.Tech/M.E. in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with at least 55% marks (or equivalent GPA), with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in the following areas:
      • Operating Liquid Helium and/or Liquid Nitrogen plants.
      • Erection and repair of refrigeration systems.
      • Working with helium transfer lines, high-pressure systems, and vacuum pumps.
      • Handling electrical components of refrigeration and cryogenic systems.
