Job Description

A Purchase Engineer is responsible for sourcing, procurement, and purchasing of materials, equipment, and services required for manufacturing or operations. They collaborate with suppliers, negotiate contracts, and ensure timely delivery while maintaining quality and cost-effectiveness.Key Responsibilities:
1. Supplier Management: Identify, evaluate, and establish relationships with reliable suppliers.
2. Procurement & Purchasing: Handle the procurement process, ensuring cost-effectiveness and timely availability of materials.
3. Negotiation: Negotiate terms, pricing, and contracts with vendors for optimal cost and quality.
4. Inventory Control: Coordinate with stores and production teams to maintain required inventory levels.
5. Quality Assurance: Ensure purchased materials meet company and industry standards.
6. Cost Reduction: Implement cost-saving strategies while maintaining quality and supply reliability.
7. Documentation: Maintain purchase records, contracts, and supplier evaluations.
8. Market Research: Stay updated on market trends, price fluctuations, and new suppliers.
9. Compliance: Ensure compliance with company policies and government regulations.
10. Technical Collaboration: Work with engineering and production teams to understand material specifications.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
• Education: Bachelors degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering (or a related field).
• Experience: 2-5 years of procurement or supply chain experience (preferably in manufacturing or engineering industries).
• Technical Knowledge: Understanding of materials, components, and industry standards.
• Negotiation Skills: Strong ability to negotiate pricing, contracts, and terms.
• Analytical Skills: Ability to assess suppliers and analyze cost-benefit scenarios.
• Communication Skills: Good verbal and written communication for supplier interactions.
• Software Knowledge: Experience with ERP systems, SAP, or procurement tools is a plus.
