The Accessibility QA Expert executes processes to evaluate the quality and stability of the product and all product processes, including Accessibility industry standards and advanced compliance such as elements related to Math, STEM, and interactive media. Proficient in finding accessibility bugs, and accurately communicating those issues, along with the recommended fix, to the production team to ensure pre-defined quality standards are met across all Higher Ed products. It is the responsibility of the Courseware QA team to ensure that the production team is aware of all known issues found during testing to make informed choices and prioritize work across all departments.
The Accessibility QA Expert will:
Be a detail oriented tester with proficiency using assistive technology including JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, and other native TTS programs
Have experience and understanding of why and how to build digital products that are accessible to everyone, including those with disabilities
Work with QA and Production teams to maintain comprehensive accessibility test plans based on product and courseware requirements, for both general and project-specific use, for all Higher Education products.
Assist team in coordinating with production and product teams to ensure accessibility requirements are testable.
Executes Accessibility QA tests and updates documentations as needed
Execute accessibility test plans and generate reports of results including use of automated testing tools as necessary.
Provide code level recommendations to remediate accessibility issues identified during testing.
Track accessibility bugs and defects and all fixes or mitigations and maintain all bug and defect tracking reports.
Record Production and vendor problems and concerns in established tracking system.
Related Work Experience:
Manual and automated accessibility testing
Code level implementation of accessible content, and remediation of accessibility gaps across multiple platforms
Accessible Math/ STEM related experience preferred
Formal Education or Equivalent:
Skills:
Accessibility SME with experience in web technologies including HTML5/XHTML and Accessible Rich Internet Applications (WAI-ARIA), EPUB, MathML, JavaScript.
Accessible STEM knowledge is a plus.
Expertise with WCAG 2.0, WCAG 2.1, EN 301 549.
Proficiency with assistive technology including JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, and other native TTS programs.
Knowledge of bug tracking software such as JIRA, Mantis, or Bugzilla is preferred.
Ability to handle high pressure situations and prioritize multiple projects as they are assigned required.
Ability to focus on and manage deadlines and deliverables.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and be able to work with varied staff members and personalities required.
Expertise in accessible math desired
