Job Description

    Bank Reconciliation Specialist EMEA, India Shared Service Centre Position Description Position Objective The Bank Reconciliation & Allocation Specialist is responsible for accurate and timely reconciliation of bank accounts and cash application across the EMEA region and multiple business entities. The role covers GL and RTR activities, incoming and outgoing payment application, cash flow forecasting, discrepancy resolution, reporting, and professional support to internal teams and external customers. Key Responsibilities ACCOUNTABILITY ACTIVITIES Daily Bank Reconciliations Perform daily reconciliations for customer bank accounts across multiple entities, ensuring transactions are accurately matched and reconciled. Investigate and resolve unreconciled items, including unapplied cash, unmatched debits/credits, timing differences and bank errors. Proactively identify and escalate long-outstanding or complex reconciliation issues. Cash Application Incoming & Outgoing Apply incoming customer receipts accurately against invoices and debtor accounts based on remittances received. Process and reconcile outgoing payments, ensuring accurate accounting treatment and timely ledger updates. Handle partial payments, overpayments, underpayments and unidentified/unapplied cash. Liaise with customers and internal teams to obtain remittance information and resolve payment discrepancies. GL & RTR Perform GL and bank reconciliations and support Record-to-Report activities related to cash and bank accounts. Support month-end and year-end close, balance sheet reconciliations, journal/ledger checks and investigation of variances. Coordinate with finance teams to ensure accurate ledger entries and timely resolution of RTR queries. Cash Flow Forecasting (EMEA) Prepare and support cash flow forecasts for the EMEA region, covering expected cash inflows and outflows. Monitor actual cash movements against forecast, investigate variances and provide timely updates to stakeholders. Coordinate with relevant finance teams to improve forecast accuracy and visibility of liquidity. Key Responsibilities (continued) Query Resolution & Communication Serve as a key point of contact for internal and external queries related to bank transactions, cash application and reconciliation. Communicate with Billing, Accounts Payable, Management Accounting, account management and other finance teams to resolve discrepancies. Maintain clear records of communications, actions and resolutions. Reporting & Analysis Prepare daily, weekly and monthly cash reports, bank reconciliation summaries and cash flow forecasting updates for management. Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures related to bank, cash and accounts receivable reconciliations. Identify trends in unallocated cash, reconciliation differences and forecast variances, providing actionable insights. Process Improvement & Controls Adhere strictly to internal controls and company policies related to cash handling, bank reconciliation and cash application. Continuously seek opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy and turnaround time across reconciliation and cash processes. Assist in documenting processes, procedures and controls for cash management and RTR activities. Compliance & Best Practices Adhere to company policies, accounting standards and regulatory requirements. Maintain confidentiality and integrity of financial and sensitive data. Qualifications & Experience Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related field. 57 years of experience in Bank Reconciliation, GL, RTR, Cash Application or Accounts Receivable. Strong hands-on experience in bank reconciliation and cash application for both incoming and outgoing payments. Experience with cash flow forecasting, preferably supporting the EMEA region. Experience working with multiple entities, bank accounts and high transaction/invoice volumes. Strong understanding of GL, RTR, month-end close and balance sheet reconciliation. Background in workforce management, staffing or services-based companies is advantageous. Key Capabilities Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy: Maintains high standards of precision in processing and reviewing financial information. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills: Evaluates discrepancies, determines root causes and drives effective resolution. Microsoft Excel proficiency: Intermediate to advanced Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables and data analysis. Cash & reconciliation expertise: Strong understanding of bank reconciliation, cash application, GL/RTR and cash flow forecasting. Communication & stakeholder management: Engages effectively with customers, finance teams and senior stakeholders.
