Senior Associate Application developer (Java)Location: Mumbai, Bangalore, Gurgaon, AhmedabadYear of exp : 2+ Years1. Skills & Experience
• Experience developing web sites for well-known brands and experience in working for a web agency or IT consultancy on design led projects
• Proven track record in Enterprise Java development and associated technologies (Spring, Hibernate etc), and development process (Agile/SCRUM, TDD, version control and continuous integration)
• Experience with enterprise CMS, eCommerce, and search based solutions based on one or more of the following: Adobe CQ5, Oracle Sites (Fatwire), Vignette, SDL Tridion, Hybris, Endeca, and similar technologies
• Knowledge and use of design patterns in building applications
• Practical knowledge of other web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript). We have a dedicated Interface Development team, but you will be working alongside our front-end specialists.
• Knowledge of XML and related technologies as well as database modelling and working with an RDBMS
• An open mind about the platforms projects are delivered to. While the majority of our work is still delivered to the browser, we also develop applications for iOS and Android.
• Willingness to learn and openness to non-Java technologies, such as Ruby, Scala etc
• Ability to collaborate with globally dispersed teams on international projects. This includes co-ordinating build activities with international teams in Asia Pacific, Middle East, Europe and North America.
2. Responsibilities and main result areasApplication Developers are responsible for the delivery of technical projects to an agreed quality level, timescales and budget. You will be expected to anticipate and mitigate delivery risks and follow issues through to closure. You are expected to be advocates for technical methodologies and processes on their projects.
• Ensures that technical solution is implemented according to technical design
• Ensures solution delivered uses existing standards and frameworks where possible and appropriate
• Assumes responsibility for technical quality, ensuring that testing is carried out in a rigorous fashion resulting in production of high-quality deliverables
• Adopts a flexible approach to completing workload to ensure timely delivery and reinforces commitment to delivery and quality within technical team
• Creates, or delegates where appropriate, the relevant technical design documentation and ensures the documents completeness and accuracy
• Working in interdisciplinary teams including User Experience architects, Interface Developers and Testing Engineers
• Anticipates and reports delivery issues associated with project clearly and at the earliest possible opportunity, to Project Manager and client, and assumes responsibility for resolution of issues
• Assists in project estimation activities and reports anticipated deviations clearly and at the earliest possible opportunity to Project Manager
• Prepares effective client meeting agendas, facilitates productive client meetings and communicates decisions effectively to team members
• Works proactively with PM to ensure completion of project reviews
3. Qualifications and Experience
• Degree in Software Engineering or Computer Science Has worked in application development/consultancy for at least 2 years
• Proficient in both spoken and written English language skills, with the ability to communicate with international project teams across different geographic locations and time zones.
• Understands technical delivery methodologies (Agile, Waterfall) and project management approaches
• Detailed knowledge of software design, modelling techniques, database technologies, Web servers, application servers and hardware options
• Has experience designing and developing solutions involving a high degree of technical complexity
