PostgreSQLEnterpriseDB PPAS Database Administrator is responsible for overseeing the database administration functions of the Cloud services department. This position is responsible for database planning, design, and implementation, as well as the maintenance and optimization of PostgreSQLEnterpriseDB PPAS database supporting our Cloud application. This role will work closely with the DBAs, development, architecture and infrastructure teams to design and administer databases to provide and enforce contractual SLAs. 1. Expert in Installation configuration maintenance and Administration of PostgreSQL with an emphasis on EnterpriseDB versions. 2. Disaster Recovery Planning and Implementation 3. Expert in developing scripts for a range of maintenance activities 4. Experience with Enterprise Failover Manager for HA is required 5. Must be able to patchupgrade PostgreSQL in a HA architecture 6. Experience with xDB Replication preferred 7. Knowledge of connection poolers like pgPool and pgBouncer ideal 8. Thorough knowledge of database security best practices 9. Experience with Implementation in a Cloud Environment ideal 10. Expert in performance analysis and resolution 11. Knowledge of Planning and Implementing (scripting) backup strategies. 12. Cloud SaaS (multi- tenant) environment experience preferred 13. Linux Administration (RHEL) experience preferred 14. Knowledge of Integration with 3rd party Monitoring Systems 15. Familiarity with Virtual Machine (or Docker) technology a plus 16. Excellent written and verbal skills 17. Expert in problem solving, planning, organization, and documentation 18. Ability to excel in a cohesive team environment 19. Experience with JDBC connection pools preferred 20. Communicates effectively to both technical and non- technical individuals at various levels of customer and internal organizations. 21. Uses consultative techniques and skills in their services delivery. 22. Works as a member of a 24 x 7 team. - - Exposure to Cassandra will be an added advantage.
Qualifications
The successful applicant will demonstrate good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. They will possess strong consultative abilities and communication skills which they will leverage to tie their technical recommendations to business benefits and process change. After initial training they normally require little instruction on their day- to- day work. BSBA or equivalent experience in Computer Science. PPAS Database, Enterprise DB Database Administrator Certified Associate or Professional Preferred Above 5- 8 years of experience working as an PostgreSQLEnterpriseDB PPAS DBA with an experience of supporting Cloud customer facing production environments. Experience managing 24x7 production support. Strong knowledge in UNIXLINUX platforms. Must be able to manage time effectively and to deliver on commitments Strong interpersonal and communication skills Must be able to operate well in a team environment and when under pressure Knowledge of Java platforms and middleware is plus (e.g. Apache, Tomcat etc.) *Knowledge of Cassandra is plus
