Introduction to the Job Role

The Automotive Supply Chain and Technology team at IHS Markit is in search of a researcher into Automotive Software/Electronics knowledge space to be based at our Gurgaon office, reporting to Manager locally in Gurgaon.

We have a network of research analysts and subject matter experts located around the world, with ever expanding component and model level forecasts we track the fitment of technologies and components. The main focus of this role is to develop datasets for forecasting and to write research reports and make power-point presentations of varying length for clients.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Primary and secondary research on advanced technologies entailing wider automotive supply chain and technologies (Connected Car, Autonomy, E Mobility, Electrical and Electronics including software data with a view to product reports, data and analytics
• Effectively custom managing projects, providing solutions design, and implementing and generating project results to the customer
• Providing support to the consulting director to develop project proposals and day-to-day project running and data modelling work
• Interface with customer as and when required to describe project proposals and present project results
• Create project plans, deliverables, and timelines to meet customer needs
• Apply automotive industry expertise (both software and hardware) to lead, develop and deliver bespoke supply chain and technology projects for customers
• Pull together complex multi-strand analysis into broad trends and insights and relate these to the critical issues facing the customer
• Define the full range of consulting problems (including non-standard problems); guide others in problem definition/framing
• Stay aware of industry best practices and alternative tools and analytical platforms
• Create an effective research strategy. Collate, organize and analyse complex data / information to create insight for clients.
• Attend conferences in related domain, networking.

Required Skills Experience:

• Minimum of 10 years direct related experience. Traditionally acquired by working for industry and/or consulting, technology firms
• Direct automotive system analysis (design through to testing) with software with or without hardware component experience is highly desirable
• Highly organized and creative with accomplished time and project management skills
• Experience in the automotive industry at an OEM, supplier, renowned research organizations or engineering consultancy, preferably in a business intelligence function (focus on technology or competitive analysis). Candidates from other backgrounds will be assessed, however an exposure to market research projects is essential.
• Proven understanding of vehicle subsystems particularly electronics and main technology trends in the automotive industry.
• Proven understanding of automotive technology trends (in connected car, autonomy, e-mobility etc.), implications on architecture due to autonomy (e.g. domain controllers, virtualization) as well as understanding of subsystems supporting Virtual reality, speech transformations into VPA, side view display mirrors etc. Knowledge of evolution of electronic architecture is a requirement. UI UX costing experience and understanding of trends is highly desirable. Candidates are advised that applications will not be considered without the above
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment and to navigate and excel in a complex, matrix organization
• Bachelor/Masters Degree in engineering would be preferred with special focus on Automotive Software and Electronics . Candidates from other streams of engineering can also apply.
• Fluency in spoken and written English
• An interest/passion for cars is desirable
• Proficiency with MS applications required (Excel, Word and PowerPoint);
• Accurate Analytical and Data interpretation skills
• Strong motivation and ability to self-organize to achieve difficult targets under tight time constraints
