Senior Design Engineer / Lead (BIW & Fixtures)Location:Coimbatore (Relocation assistance provided)Experience:7 to 8 YearsEducation:B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical, Automobile, or Production Engineering (Full-time only; Diploma candidates will not be considered)Primary Software:CATIA V5Position OverviewWe are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior/Lead Design Engineer specializing in BIW (Body in White) and Welding Fixtures. In this role, you will lead the end-to-end design and development of complex jigs, fixtures, and automated welding lines using CATIA V5. You will work closely with manufacturing teams to deliver high-quality, production-ready designs that meet international automotive standards.Key ResponsibilitiesCore Design:Concept design, 3D modeling, and detailing of BIW Welding Fixtures (Geo, Respot, Framing), Grippers, and Checking Fixtures using CATIA V5.Technical Integration:Establish robust Clamping Plans, perform kinematic simulations, and handle weld gun selection/clearance checks.Quality & Standards:Apply strict GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) principles and ensure designs comply with global automotive manufacturing standards (e.g., NAAMS, European, or major OEM-specific standards).Documentation:Generate complete Bill of Materials (BOM), manufacturing drawings, and engineering change notes (ECN).Collaboration:Interface with internal tool rooms, process planners, and clients to resolve manufacturing and assembly queries.Required Technical SkillsRock-solid experience inBIW Fixture DesignandWelding Fixtures.Advanced, hands-on proficiency inCATIA V5(Part, Assembly, Surface, and Drafting modules).Strong understanding of sheet metal manufacturing processes, welding methods, and assembly sequences.Deep knowledge of GD&T application and tolerance stack-up analysis.
