Production Engineer

Job Description

The Production Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing production processes to ensure efficient manufacturing operations. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to improve productivity, reduce costs, maintain product quality, and achieve production targets while adhering to safety and regulatory standards.Key Responsibilities
1. Production Planning and Process Optimization
   • Develop and implement efficient production workflows, systems, and processes.
   • Analyze production data to identify bottlenecks and improve output.
   • Ensure production schedules are met while maintaining quality and cost-effectiveness.
2. Process Improvement
   • Identify areas for process improvement and implement Lean or Six Sigma methodologies.
   • Optimize resource utilization, including labor, materials, and equipment.
   • Conduct time and motion studies to improve operational efficiency.
3. Equipment and Technology Management
   • Oversee the maintenance, calibration, and operation of production equipment.
   • Work with the maintenance team to minimize downtime and improve equipment reliability.
   • Support the integration of new technologies and machinery into production lines.
4. Quality Assurance
   • Ensure that products meet quality standards and specifications throughout the production process.
   • Investigate and address quality issues by performing root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
   • Collaborate with the quality team to ensure compliance with industry standards and certifications.
5. Safety and Compliance
   • Promote and maintain a safe working environment by adhering to health and safety regulations.
   • Conduct risk assessments and implement safety measures to reduce hazards.
   • Ensure production operations comply with regulatory and environmental requirements.
6. Collaboration and Team Support
   • Work closely with design, quality, and maintenance teams to ensure seamless operations.
   • Provide technical support to production staff, including training on equipment and processes.
   • Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to resolve material or equipment issues.
7. Reporting and Documentation
   • Prepare and maintain detailed documentation of production processes, workflows, and improvements.
   • Generate reports on production performance, efficiency, and downtime for management review.
Key Qualifications
• Education:
  • Bachelors degree in Production Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience:
  • 2-5 years of experience in a production or manufacturing engineering role.
• Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, tools, and equipment.
  • Proficiency in CAD software and production planning tools (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or ERP systems).
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and leadership abilities to work effectively with teams.
Work Environment
• Work involves both office settings and production floor environments.
• May require standing, walking, or operating equipment for extended periods.
• Occasional travel to supplier sites or other facilities may be required.
Additional Requirements
• Certifications such as Lean Six Sigma Green/Black Belt or PMP (Project Management Professional) are an advantage.
• Strong understanding of safety regulations and best practices in manufacturing.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
