Job Description

The Applications Development Programmer Analyst position at our company involves participating in the establishment and implementation of new or revised application systems and programs in coordination with the Technology team. Your role will contribute to applications systems analysis and programming activities.You will be responsible for utilizing your knowledge of applications development procedures and concepts, along with basic knowledge of other technical areas, to identify and define necessary system enhancements. It will be your duty to identify and analyze issues, make recommendations, and implement solutions. You will also utilize your knowledge of business processes, system processes, and industry standards to solve complex issues, analyze information, make evaluative judgments to recommend solutions and improvements, conduct testing and debugging, utilize script tools, and write basic code for design specifications.Furthermore, you will be expected to assess the applicability of similar experiences, evaluate options under circumstances not covered by procedures, and develop a working knowledge of Citigroups information systems, procedures, standards, client-server application development, network operations, database administration, systems administration, data center operations, and PC-based applications.As an Applications Development Programmer Analyst, you must appropriately assess risk when making business decisions, showing particular consideration for the firms reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients, and assets. This includes driving compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations, adhering to policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct, and business practices, and escalating, managing, and reporting control issues with transparency.Qualifications for this role include 2-5 years of relevant experience, experience in programming/debugging used in business applications, working knowledge of industry practice and standards, comprehensive knowledge of a specific business area for application development, working knowledge of program languages, and consistently demonstrating clear and concise written and verbal communication skills. A Bachelors degree/University degree or equivalent experience is required.The ideal candidate for this position should be an experienced Java Developer with 3 to 6 years of hands-on experience in Core Java, Spring, Spring Boot, REST API, JSP framework, Hibernate, and SQL. Strong problem-solving skills, a deep understanding of object-oriented programming, and experience in developing scalable and high-performance applications are essential. The ability to operate with a limited level of direct supervision, apply fundamental knowledge of programming languages for design specifications, and contribute to all stages of the software development lifecycle are key responsibilities.Specific responsibilities include developing REST APIs using Spring Boot and integrating them with front-end applications, working with JSP, Servlets, and front-end technologies for Dynamic Web Applications, writing efficient SQL queries, working with Hibernate/JPA for ORM, troubleshooting, debugging, and resolving software defects and performance bottlenecks, following best coding practices, design patterns, and clean code principles, participating in code reviews, unit testing, and integration testing, working in agile/Scrum environments, and having knowledge and understanding of containerization like Docker, Openshift, and DevOps tools such as BitBucket, SonarQube, and Jenkins.The position is full-time and falls under the Technology job family group with a focus on Applications Development.
