Job Description

    Job Summary:We are seeking a highly skilled Design Engineer with expertise in Catia V5, AutoCAD, MS Office, and SAP to join our R&D (Design) team. The ideal candidate must have experience in the design of seating and interior components within the automobile industry. The role involves understanding customer requirements, developing 3D models and 2D drawings, coordinating with various departments, and ensuring smooth prototype development.Key Responsibilities:Design & Development:
    • Understand customer requirements based on available inputs.
    • Create 3D models and 2D drawings using Catia V5 and AutoCAD.
    • Review designs with the HOD of R&D (Design) and make necessary revisions.
    • Assign part numbers for components and assemblies using SAP.
    • Release drawings to respective departments for further processing.
    • Develop Bill of Materials (BOM) and Tree Charts.
    • Maintain RTS, APQP, and PPAP documents as per industry standards.
    • Verify material and process availability in the plant based on BOM.
    Prototype Development & Manufacturing:
    • Oversee prototype manufacturing using available resources.
    • Coordinate with the proto shop and tool room for part and product development.
    • Arrange and follow up on material procurement in coordination with the purchase department.
    • Release drawings for fixture and tool manufacturing to PED & Tool Room departments.
    • Monitor manufacturing status of fixtures and tools from Tool Room & PED department.
    • Conduct fitment trials for prototypes, identify issues, and revise designs accordingly.
    • Analyze manufacturing processes and make improvements based on trial feedback.
    Daily Activities:
    • Check and release final drawings after review with HOD of R&D (Design).
    • Ensure timely release of drawings to all respective departments.
    • Update part codes in SAP.
    • Report project status to the HOD of R&D (Design).
    • Monitor daily tooling status in the Tool Room department.
    • Oversee assembly of prototype parts post-tool room processing.
    • Identify and resolve design or process issues during prototype assembly.
    • Revise and update parts and processes based on design review findings.
    • Analyze material availability for prototype manufacturing as per BOM.
    • Raise purchase indents for raw materials and hardware items required for prototype development.
    Required Skills & Competencies:
    • Software Proficiency: Catia V5 (Mandatory), AutoCAD, MS Office, SAP.
    • Industry Experience: Automobile sector with a focus on seating & interior design.
    • Technical Expertise: 3D modeling, 2D drafting, prototype development, tooling coordination.
    • Analytical Skills: Ability to troubleshoot design & manufacturing issues.
    • Collaboration & Coordination: Strong cross-functional teamwork with R&D, Purchase, Tool Room, and Production teams.
    • Process Knowledge: Familiarity with RTS, APQP, PPAP documentation.
    • Attention to Detail: Ensure accuracy in design, material selection, and manufacturing feasibility.
