Job Description

    A drilling supervisor will be responsible for the following activities:
    • Supervision of drilling operations: The drilling supervisor is responsible for supervising all drilling activities on site, including setting up equipment, performing drilling procedures, controlling drilling parameters and monitoring. of security.
    • Drilling crew management: The drilling supervisor leads the drilling crews in the field, ensuring that each crew member understands their duties and responsibilities. He coordinates the activities of the team to ensure efficient and consistent execution of drilling operations.
    • Application of safety procedures: Safety is a top priority in drilling operations. The drilling supervisor ensures that proper safety procedures are followed at all times. He identifies potential risks, implements preventive measures and trains the team to adopt safe work practices.
    • Managing problems and contingencies: Drilling may encounter unforeseen technical or operational problems. The drilling supervisor is responsible for resolving these issues quickly and efficiently, making appropriate decisions in the field and coordinating the actions necessary to minimize disruptions.
    • Performance and quality monitoring: The drilling supervisor monitors drilling performance in terms of speed, efficiency and quality. He evaluates drilling data, recordings and key performance indicators to ensure that objectives are met and quality standards are met.
    • Communication and collaboration: The drilling supervisor ensures smooth and effective communication with the drilling teams, other members of the management team and external stakeholders. He works closely with other professionals such as drilling engineers, reservoir engineers and production engineers to ensure smooth coordination of operations.
    • Reports and documentation: The drilling supervisor prepares detailed reports on drilling activities, performance, incidents, problems encountered and actions taken. It ensures accurate and complete documentation for tracking, regulatory compliance and future reference needs.
    Required skillsA drilling supervisor must have the following skills:
    • In-depth knowledge of drilling techniques: Proficiency in the various drilling methods used in the petroleum industry, including rotary drilling, directional drilling and horizontal drilling.
    • Project management skills: Ability to plan, coordinate and supervise drilling operations, taking into account project objectives, available resources and deadlines.
    • Leadership Skills: Ability to lead a drill team, delegate tasks and motivate team members to achieve set goals.
    • In-depth knowledge of safety procedures: Mastery of safety procedures specific to the petroleum industry, including risk management, accident prevention and the proper use of safety equipment.
    • Problem Solving Skills: Ability to quickly identify and resolve technical and operational issues that may arise during drilling operations.
    • Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with members of the drilling team, other petroleum industry professionals and external stakeholders.
    • Resource management skills: Ability to manage the material, human and financial resources available for drilling operations, optimizing the use of resources and respecting budgetary constraints.
    • Data Analysis Skills: Ability to analyze drilling data, including operational parameters, drill logs and rock samples, to evaluate well performance and make informed decisions.
    • Knowledge of Regulations and Standards: Familiarity with petroleum industry regulations and standards for drilling, safety and environment, and ability to apply them in drilling operations.
