Material Engineer

Job Description

Material Selection
• Recommend suitable materials based on performance, cost, durability, and environmental conditions.
• Compare metals, plastics, ceramics, composites, and other materials for specific applications.
Testing and Analysis
• Test materials for heat resistance, corrosion resistance, wear, strength, and chemical stability.
• Analyze lab data and evaluate how materials perform under different conditions.
• Build prototypes and test material combinations when needed.
Failure Investigation
• Investigate material failure, cracks, deformation, corrosion, or product defects.
• Identify root causes and suggest improvements or replacements.
• Support repairs, redesigns, and quality improvements.
Process and Quality Support
• Help develop manufacturing processes for materials and finished products.
• Oversee quality control processes and material standards.
• Work with suppliers, manufacturing teams, and design teams.
Documentation and Reporting
• Prepare technical reports, cost evaluations, and material recommendations.
• Document test results, findings, and environmental impacts.
• Advise project engineers and managers on material performance.
