Job Description

    Job Title: Purchase Engineer (Electrical/ Electronics)Location: Pimpri Chinchwad, PuneExperience Required: 3 -7 years exp in relevant industryEducation: Diploma / Bachelors degree in Electronics or Electrical Engineering Compensation: 4 - 5 LPAJob Summary:The Purchase Engineer is responsible for sourcing and procuring electronic components essential for electronics manufacturing. The role includes cost analysis, supplier coordination, negotiation, and ensuring the availability of quality components within budget and time constraints. The ideal candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, and have solid experience in electronic component procurement and costing. Key Responsibilities:1. Procurement and Sourcing:
    • Identify, evaluate, and qualify suppliers for electronic components (e.g. LEDs, resistors,capacitors, ICs, PCBs, inductors, diodes, transistors, etc.).
    • Maintain and build strong supplier relationships to ensure uninterrupted componentsupply.
    • Source alternate components in cases of cost optimization or part obsolescence.
    2. Electronic Costing:
    • Conduct BOM and individual component cost analysis.
    • Monitor market trends and suggest cost-saving opportunities.
    • Support product development teams with accurate cost data for early design decisions.
    • Prepare basic cost breakdowns and budgeting reports.
    • Deep understanding of PCB costing, including types of PCBs, bare PCBs, EMS processes, and interpreting Gerber files.
    3. Supplier Negotiation & Coordination:
    • Assist in negotiating pricing, delivery timelines, and MOQs with suppliers undermanagements guidance.
    • Coordinate the preparation and compliance of supplier contracts.
    • Track and report supplier performance KPIs including on-time delivery and qualitymetrics.
    4. Inventory & Supply Chain Support:
    • Work with inventory control teams to manage optimum stock levels.
    • Address and resolve component delays, shortages, and supply bottlenecks.
    • Coordinate with logistics partners to ensure timely receipt of materials.
    5. Quality & Compliance:
    • Ensure all purchased components comply with relevant industry and regulatorystandards (RoHS, REACH).
    • Collaborate with quality teams to manage supplier quality issues and implementcorrective actions.
    6. Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    • Coordinate with engineering and production teams to ensure timely availability ofcomponents for new product prototypes.
    • Participate in value engineering initiatives to support cost reduction.
    • Provide insights on sourcing challenges and alternative components.
    7. Documentation & Reporting:
    • Maintain detailed records of supplier contracts, POs, and cost evaluations.
    • Prepare regular reports for management on procurement status, supplier metrics, andmarket trends.
    Key Skills & Competencies:
    • Technical Knowledge: Understanding of electronic components and their specifications.
    • Costing Skills: Familiarity with BOM costing, PCB costing, and ERP systems.
    • Tools: Proficiency in MS Excel for data analysis (formulas, lookups, pivot tables).
    • Analytical Thinking: Ability to evaluate component pricing and cost trends.
    • Negotiation: Basic to intermediate skills in supplier negotiation.
    • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills for supplier and cross-functional coordination.
    • Compliance Awareness: Knowledge of ISO, IATF, RoHS, REACH standards.
