Job Description

    Role & responsibilitiesTo lead, plan, and execute turnaround, shutdown, and maintenance projects safely, efficiently, and within budget while ensuring compliance with client specifications, quality standards, and company objectives. The Project Manager / Project Leader is accountable for overall project delivery from mobilization to demobilization ensuring seamless coordination between site teams, clients, and internal departments.Preferred candidate profileKey Responsibilities:1. Project Planning & Execution
    • Develop detailed project execution plans, schedules, and manpower/equipment deployment plans in coordination with the Planning Department.
    • Lead project kickoff meetings, risk assessments, and readiness reviews before site mobilization.
    • Oversee project execution ensuring adherence to safety, quality, and schedule commitments.
    • Manage daily progress, address bottlenecks proactively, and ensure resource optimization.
    • Coordinate with maintenance, equipment, and procurement teams for timely availability of materials and tools.
    2. Client Coordination & Communication
    • Act as the primary point of contact between Expertise and the client for all project-related communications.
    • Conduct daily and weekly progress meetings with client representatives and internal teams.
    • Ensure timely submission of daily reports, progress updates, and project documentation.
    • Manage change orders, variation requests, and additional scope approvals in coordination with the Contracts Department.
    3. Cost, Quality & Performance Management
    • Ensure the project is executed within approved budget and contractual terms.
    • Track and control project expenses, manpower productivity, and equipment utilization.
    • Implement effective cost-control measures and monitor project profitability.
    • Ensure compliance with QA/QC procedures, inspection test plans, and documentation requirements.
    4. Safety Leadership
    • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with all HSE requirements.
    • Conduct toolbox talks, safety walkdowns, and incident reviews as required.
    • Collaborate with the Safety Department to close out corrective and preventive actions promptly.
    5. Team Leadership & Development
    • Lead, guide, and motivate the project execution team including engineers, supervisors, and technicians.
    • Conduct regular performance reviews and ensure alignment with organizational goals.
    • Identify skill gaps and recommend training for team competency enhancement.
    6. Reporting & Documentation
    • Maintain accurate project documentation, including schedules, reports, manpower logs, and cost records.
    • Submit project close-out reports with lessons learned, productivity analysis, and financial summaries.
    • Coordinate with the Planning and Finance Departments for project completion certificates and invoicing support.
    Key Skills & Competencies:
    • Strong leadership, decision-making, and communication skills.
    • Proven ability to manage large-scale turnaround, shutdown, and maintenance projects.
    • Excellent knowledge of mechanical, piping, equipment, and catalyst handling activities.
    • Familiarity with SAP (Project, Maintenance, and Cost Control modules).
    • Strong understanding of safety, quality, and client interface management.
    • Analytical approach with ability to interpret schedules, productivity data, and cost reports.
    • Proficiency in MS Office, Primavera / MS Project, and project documentation systems.
    Qualifications & Experience:
    • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Civil and Electrical Engineering (mandatory).
    • 15-20 years of experience in turnaround, maintenance, or construction projects, including at least 5 years in a leadership role.
    • Previous experience in refinery, fertilizer, or major petrochemical plant projects preferred.
    • Strong exposure to multi-discipline coordination (mechanical static, valves rotary, E&I, equipment, scaffolding, piping, etc.).
    • Knowledge of contract management and budgetary control processes.
