Job Description

The Cargo Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day cargo operations, ensuring the safe, efficient, and timely handling of freight. The role involves managing a team, ensuring compliance with regulations and company policies, and delivering exceptional customer service. The Cargo Supervisor works closely with ground staff, carriers, and clients to maintain smooth cargo operations.Key Responsibilities:
1. Operational Oversight:
   • Supervise cargo handling processes, including loading, unloading, sorting, and storage of goods.
   • Ensure adherence to schedules and deadlines for cargo delivery and dispatch.
   • Coordinate with airlines, trucking companies, and other carriers for smooth operations.
2. Team Management:
   • Manage and guide cargo staff, including assigning tasks and monitoring performance.
   • Conduct training sessions to ensure staff are knowledgeable about safety protocols and operational procedures.
   • Resolve conflicts and maintain a motivated team environment.
3. Safety and Compliance:
   • Enforce safety regulations and protocols to prevent accidents and damage to cargo.
   • Ensure compliance with international and local cargo regulations, including customs and IATA standards.
   • Oversee the handling of hazardous materials and ensure proper documentation and labeling.
4. Customer Service:
   • Liaise with clients to address concerns, provide updates, and ensure customer satisfaction.
   • Handle complaints and implement solutions to improve service quality.
5. Inventory and Documentation:
   • Maintain accurate records of cargo shipments, including weight, dimensions, and destination.
   • Prepare and verify documentation such as airway bills, invoices, and manifests.
   • Conduct regular inventory checks to ensure accuracy in storage and dispatch.
6. Performance Monitoring:
   • Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) such as cargo volume, delivery timelines, and efficiency metrics.
   • Identify areas for operational improvement and implement strategies to optimize performance.
Qualifications and Skills:
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelors degree in logistics, supply chain, or a related field is an advantage).
• Experience:
  • Minimum 35 years of experience in cargo or logistics operations.
  • Previous experience in a supervisory role is preferred.
• Skills:
  • Strong understanding of cargo handling procedures and safety protocols.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
  • Proficiency in cargo management software and systems.
  • Effective communication and problem-solving skills.
