Job Description

  • Experience should include DB design modelling and normalisation , capacity planning, performance tuning, storage management, back up and recovery, managing schemas, report generation and DB clustering technologies.
  • Operating system experience in Linux.
  • Experience in setting up Data Guard
  • Database backup management using RMAN, Data Pump etc.
  • Database Partitioning.
  • Architecture design principles.
  • Hands on experience with DB standards and end user applications translating
  • capacity requirements into infrastructure deployment technology.
  • Strong practical experience of ORACLE in a production RAC ASM environment 11gR2 and 12c .
  • Advanced trouble shooting skills and identify the severity of the issue,
  • Ability to Resolving issues quickly to account customer satisfaction and Prepare RCA
  • Perform Database Server environment implementation and steady state maintenance.
  • To standardize and stabilize the process.
  • Ensure to follow ITIL framework for management processes
  • Specified Description for position Main responsibilities
  • Design, develop, implement and maintain our core Oracle applications.
  • Maintain our SQL PLSQL processes.
  • Ensure DB availability.
  • Proactively manage and maintain security standards and controls.
  • Actively seek to optimize and simplify our architecture.
  • Take ownership of performance and capacity monitoring aspects of the DB.
  • Execution of data migration jobs and scripts as required.
  • Assist the infrastructure team in sizing hardware used for the DB.
  • Support and collaborate with product developers.
  • Contribute to the creation and maintenance of disaster recovery plans.
  • Create a reliable backup strategy.
  • Ensure database backups are appropriately executed and periodic restorations are exercised to ensure backup quality.
  • Determine and document DB policies, procedures and standards.
  • Performance testing and evaluation to ensure data security, privacy and integrity. Identification of bottle necks and deadlock issues.
  • Ensure SLA s operational KPI s are met, working as necessary with internal and external support functions when major incidents occur.
  • Set user privileges within the database environment
  • When performance issues arise, determine the most effective way to increase performance including hardware purchases, server configuration changes, or index query changes.
  • Increase reliability and enhance efficiencies by implementing 3rd party tools and scripts
  • Ensures compliance to security standards, policies and guidelines
  • Provides business continuity through thorough back up and restore procedures, and periodic testing of outage scenarios
  • Administers and maintains a Linux based server network, with a combination of physical and virtual servers
  • Plans, deploys, and documents new servers and services
  • Ensures that external and internal regulations and policies governing data management are met, including regulations concerning security, audit and privacy
  • Handle Incident and request tickets via service now
  • Knowledge on other database platforms like PostgreSQL, Oracle.
  • Thorough knowledge on ITIL framework
  • ITIL Certification
  • Learning Opportunities in position Exposure and upskill to multiple database technologies like PostgreSQL, HANA.
