Job Description

Primary Purpose: We are seeking an experienced and highly competent Production Manager to oversee and manage the production activities in our dairy plant. The Production Manager will be responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of milk processing, milk packing, and other dairy product manufacturing processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of dairy production, quality control, and cost optimization.Job Location : Karjan. Key Accountabilities/Activities:Production Planning & Execution:
• Take overall responsibility for production activities related to milk processing, milk packing, and other milk products.
• Develop and execute production plans to meet production targets and customer demands.
• Manage manpower planning and ensure the availability of skilled staff for efficient production operations.
• Coordinate and oversee the activities of different production sections, including Processing Section, Butter & Ghee Section, Evaporator, Packing Section, Dispatch Section, Fermented Products Section, RMRD, etc.
Productivity and Cost Optimization:
• Continuously improve productivity and processing costs by implementing process improvements, optimizing resource utilization, and reducing waste.
• Monitor and control fat, SNF (Solid-Not-Fat), and packaging material losses to keep them within specified limits.
• Conduct regular reconciliation of fat, SNF, packing materials, and consumables to maintain accurate records. (at every 10 days / thrice in a month)
• Standardize processes for new products and evaluate the technical requirements of new machinery.
• Identify training needs for production department staff and provide necessary training to enhance their skills and knowledge.
Maintenance and Hygiene:
• Organize and schedule preventive maintenance of plant machinery as per the maintenance schedule.
• Ensure the cleanliness and sanitation of the plant and supervise the maintenance of hygienic conditions in the production area and surrounding premises.
• Keep records of maintenance activities, poly film, consumption, packing materials, and preventive/breakdown maintenance of packing machines.
• Ensure compliance with ISO and HACCP standards and maintain updated records.
• Responsible for modernization of existing machinery at engineering, production and chilling centres to maximize efficiency.
Quality Control and Compliance:
• Maintain consistent product quality by monitoring productivity levels, enforcing quality standards, and conducting regular quality checks.
• Keep a watch on RMRD, Liaise with the Quality Control Department to address any quality issues or malpractices.
• Manage legal matters related to milk production and ensure compliance with FSSAI, ISO, HACCP, and other relevant regulations.
• Prepare management information system (MIS) reports on production activities, quality control, and key performance indicators.
• Collaborate with other departments, such as Procurement, to provide suggestions for improving quality and quantity.
• Communicate and coordinate with external parties for milk supply (shortage/excess) and follow management directives.
Qualification:Essential: M. Tech. / B. Tech (Dairy Technology)Experience:Essential: 15 to 20 Years of demonstrable Experience with Dairy.
• Experience in Dairy Production: Significant hands-on experience in dairy production is essential. This includes knowledge of milk processing techniques, equipment operation, quality control standards, and regulatory compliance in the dairy industry.
• Production Management Experience: Prior experience in a management or supervisory role within a dairy production setting is highly desirable. This includes overseeing production processes, managing production teams, and ensuring production targets are met.
• Knowledge of Dairy Products: Familiarity with different dairy products, such as milk, cheese, butter, yogurt, and ice cream, is valuable. Understanding the production processes, quality requirements, and industry trends for these products is important for effective management.
• Quality Control and Food Safety: Strong knowledge of quality control standards and food safety regulations is necessary to ensure compliance and maintain product quality. Experience in implementing quality control procedures and managing food safety protocols is beneficial.
• Continuous Improvement and Lean Manufacturing: Experience in implementing continuous improvement initiatives and lean manufacturing principles can contribute to optimizing production processes, reducing waste, and improving overall efficiency.
• Regulatory Compliance: Familiarity with regulatory requirements in the dairy industry, such as food safety standards, sanitation practices, and labeling regulations, is important to ensure compliance and mitigate risks.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
