Data Production Engineer Engineering Vishakhapatnam, IndiaDescription The Team: The Production Data Operations team is central to Chegg s data platform and infrastructure initiatives focused on delivering data with high quality and on-time to our analyst community and business leaders. It is a team composed of passionate and skilled production support engineers willing to go the extra mile to make sure Chegg get better insights into our students and customers. The Role: Production Support Engineer We are looking for a Production Support Engineer who is ready to support the data operations for Chegg Data teams. This role includes assignment of issues, issue analysis, resolutions within the specified SLA s and coordinate with both onsite and offshore teams. At Chegg, we have data coming in from a variety of different places. Gathering and ingesting all of this data using our data infrastructure is core to our business. We are looking for a candidate with a strong understanding of OLTP/ OLAP systems, understands data processing techniques and challenges, comfortable with SQL and Linux based operating systems. The candidate must have experience in AWS services like Redshift, S3, and Containerization. Additional experience with BI tools like Tableau will be an advantage. Responsibilities: The candidate will be a core member of the Data operations for Chegg Data teams on a 24 7 365 basis and will work with a team of production support engineers. Production support is the team business and engineering teams can lean on to perform health checks and monitor infrastructure, servers, databases, distributed batch jobs. The team masters the knowledge of incident, problem and change management processes and tools. For this to be possible we expect the following: Ability to work in rotational shifts and experience in 24/ 7 operations. Ability to follow instructions and respond pro-actively to any issues reported. Ability to work independently to resolve technical issues Able to escalate to manage and minimize the risk of the production systems Support the defined operational metrics, service level agreements and priorities. Strong communications skills to provide visibility in data operations. Experience with data operations, automation and performance improvements Monitor and maintain data infrastructure in terms of security, performance, and stability. Requirements: 1 3 years of practical experience in basic SQL and Linux support with a focus on data processing techniques on both batch and real-time data. Good conceptual knowledge of relational and non-relational databases. At least 1-2 years experience working with enterprise applications where Python, Linux shell scripting and job schedulers are used. 1-2 years experience working with SQL (i. e MySQL, Postgres) and NoSQL databases. 1+ years of experience using industry best practices to solve data platform and infrastructure issues. 1-2 years of working in on/ offshore operations model and executing on deliverables Nice to have exposure over cloud infrastructure specifically AWS. Understanding of Docker Containers and ECS Nice to have experience with Tableau administration or some other reporting tool. Experience with version control systems (i. e svn, git, etc) Must have experience in working with cross-functional and cross-regional teams. Bachelor s degree in a quantitative field (Computer Science or related field) Self-motivated, independent, organized and proactive, highly responsive, flexible and adaptable when working across multiple teams.
