Job Description

Key role and responsibility:

  • As a key individual contributor, System Engineer for sensor development has following responsibility:
  • Understand system requirements; work closely with the engineering team to flow down the system requirements to the hardware/software levels. Help define new system requirements based on interactions with customers.
  • Develop, manage and ensure adherence to customer exhaust gas sensor specifications.
  • Provide customer & partner single point of contact responsibility for technical team to ensure technical cross functional alignment.
  • Develop and document overall product architecture (electrical hardware, software).
  • Through technical documentation (specification, gap analysis, FMEA test plans, test reports and other areas), ensure technical alignment among customer, partners and Garrett cross functions.
  • Manage technical issues and coordinate through definition of problem statement, root cause analysis, and solution implementation with customer and all functions.
  • Participate in sensor control unit supplier panel selection and supplier development, collaborate on supply strategies.

Experience requirement:

  • 10+ years of experience in systems engineering which includes hardware and software development. Prefer systems engineering experience with sensors control unit systems engineering or engine control units development
  • Automotive Product launch experience
  • Understanding of embedded controls of sensors
  • Working knowledge of gas sensor principle of work
  • Data acquisition and processing, basic understanding of amperometric and EIS measurement
  • Prior experience with Requirements Management tools such as Jama or DOORS, Jira are welcome

Professional Skills and Knowledge:

  • Experience directing technical teams. Ability to work in a team environment and negotiate solutions with hardware/software and systems engineering is preferred. Strong fundamentals in electrical engineering is preferred.
  • Ability to learn new designs quickly and independently.
  • Proven project management skills. Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally. Ability to work in a global, virtual team environment.
  • Knowledge of communication protocols such as CAN, CAN-FD, Ethernet, and/or FlexRay is preferred
  • Understanding of Automotive standards is preferred
  • ISO 26262 Functional safety
  • LV-123 / VDA-320 Automotive high voltage / 48V
  • ISO 16750 / LV-124 Electrical component validation

Education:

Minimum of Bachelor s Degree in Electrical Engineering with an emphasis on electronics, sensor controls, embedded SW and hardware
