Job Description

In this role, you are responsible for shaping and leading the Market HR organization for India to drive business impact. This includes leadership of Market HR Business Partners and Market Solution Partners in the country and will require very close collaboration with Sector HR as well as particularly MBS HR in addition to business leaders. Developing an effective and efficient set-up of the market considering number of employees, sites, MBS support level and legal complexity will be a key part of your role. You will partner with Sector BPs to translate business requirements into operational plans and will drive Market HR performance by successfully deploying employee lifecycle solutions and driving organizational transformations as well as monitoring operational performance to identify country-specific risks and to ensure legal compliance in the countries of the region. Through enablement offerings for line managers, you contribute to the implementation of the People Strategy and to driving continued change. Managerial Tasks

  • Be the lead of the HR team in India market, comprising of Business Partners across Life Science, Healthcare, Electronics and MGF, and Solution Partners for Talent Acquisition, Talent Development & Total Rewards
  • Aiming clearly for business purpose, to influence the decisions from different HR roles, facilitate the collaboration in OneHR India;
  • Being a role model of Leader for all employees in the market, demonstrating on the job practice of Merck behaviors
  • Represent HR function in the India Country Leadership team (Country Council) and to external world as well
Functional Tasks
  • As a single contact point from HR to business (as HRBP), takes lead for all HR related topics in assigned business.
  • Partners with the business leaders in India and functions to translate business requirements into HR processes and systems that deliver business results.
  • Takes a lead role in utilizing HR expertise to address business needs and understands the business impact of delivering results while upholding the company core values.
  • Delivers key HR processes such as talent management, performance management, change management, workforce planning, anticipating recruitment needs, operational excellence etc.
  • Provides consultative organizational development insights to drive organizational effectiveness and identifies organizational issues/misalignments that are affecting business operations and results
  • Leverages available HR operating model to work with Sector HR in translating sector specific people priorities into operational programs in the market
  • Engages with MBS unit for transactional and automated solutions provided to the business.
  • Anchor Talent Development and Recruiting Solution Partner groups to ensure delivery of market specific support to businesses
  • Oversee Total Rewards program in the market to ensure risks associated with talent attraction and retention are mitigated
  • Effectively participates as an integral team member of the Asia HR group. Participates in and/or leads HR projects and initiatives.
  • Demonstrates ability to work remotely (remote from leadership/team/accounts) and leverage all vehicles for communication
  • Demonstrates ability and willingness to align local implementation with global business requirements
Desired Skills and Experience
  • Master s Degree in Human Resources with 15-17 years experience in managing HR function in a mid-large size multinational company.
  • Good task and relationship skills to effectively drive and direct the efforts of others.
  • Experienced change leader who can drive, facilitate and manage orderly implementation and timely acceptance of workplace innovations, improvements and government requirements.
  • Ability to develop leaders and employees at all levels in the organization
  • Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Strong business acumen with ability to quickly build extensive knowledge of business, understanding of market trends and the competitive landscape.
  • Strong assertiveness, leadership courage, influence, planning, organization, collaboration and stakeholder management skills
  • Effective leadership and communication skills in a trans-national cross-cultural operating environment
  • Demonstrated competence in coaching and conflict resolution
