What you will do:
• As a Principal Engineer you will be mainly responsible for
• partnering with the customer to understand their needs and co-define the set of requirements and use-cases with them
• providing architectural leadership for network architecture as well as software architecture.
• exercising influence to drive deployments of Cisco Recommended Solutions
• having a good understanding of software innovations and industry trends to drive the next set of innovations in control plane routing protocols charter for Cisco, to solve critical customer/business needs
• Proven track record in articulating thought leadership in networking and/or related technologies is a must.
• Quality is paramount in everything we do, and hence balancing innovation velocity with the best possible Quality@source is critical.
• On-the-job Mentoring in a diverse and extremely talented team environment would be part of the job.
• Past experience in successful execution on product delivery through entire lifecycle: requirements, design, development & post deployment customer support is required.

Ability to juggle multiple tasks while focusing on the high-priority ones and being results oriented is key.Candidates with significant IETF experience and influence in the industry are preferred.Minimum Qualifications:
• 15+ with B.S in CS (or EE) with equivalent experience
• Proficient in Routing protocols and technologies including SR, MPLS, BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, Controller based technologies.
• Strong grounding in data structures and algorithms
• Strong programming skills in C
• Experience in python is an added advantage.
• Experience in Linux and open-source networking stacks.
• Strong communication/presentation skills
Preferred Qualifications:
• 12+ with M.S. or PhD in CS, EE or equivalent experience
• Experience and/or knowledge of Segment Routing, L2VPN and EVPN technologies, BIER and Controller based Solutions is added advantage.
• In-depth understanding of packet forwarding, operating systems internals, algorithms, and computer architecture is helpful
• Strong knowledge of MPLS Technologies, including LDP, RSVP-TE. Experience with MPLS based VPNs (MVPN, L3VPN, L2VPN) is a definite plus.
• Hands on experience with Cisco Routers (core, edge or access) is a plus.
