Job Description

Designation: Research Investigator, Process R&D Job Location: Bengaluru, India Reporting to: Lead Scientist, Process R&D Job Grade: 7 Operating Unit : Chemical Development Department: Process R&D The Company Syngene International Ltd. The Role Responsible for development of a safe and scalable process. Ensure the performance of the process or transfer a technology with the designated team and enable the scale up activities safe as per delivery timeline either at Syngene or a third-party pilot plant as required by the customer Key Result Areas Role-specific:

  • Contribute individually by performing experiments (targeting 1-2 experiments in a working day) in lab and provide scientific leadership.
  • Effectively manage resources to ensure productivity and quality (of development work) as per Syngene standards and customer requirement.
  • Ensure the scientists are performing minimum two experiments in a working day at lab.
  • Provide creative and innovative solutions to technical problems backed by a sound understanding of fundamental scientific principles in the team.
  • Develop chemical processes that are inherently safe, scalable, cost-effective process suitable for pilot / commercial scale manufacturing.
  • Set and maintain high safety standards in the work environment.
  • Encourage automation in PRD work (jacketed reactors, dosing pumps, probes etc.,). and other best scientific practices in the team.
  • Proactively lead development programs with minimum direction from customers.
  • Prepare quality weekly research reports and development reports. Lead technical discussions in audioconferences with customer whenever necessary.
  • Setting up smart goals towards safety, process optimization, scaleup / manufacturing activities with target to achieve highest QUOTIF.
  • Ensure flawless execution of scale up activities with 100% compliance on safety, quality and data integrity.
  • Establish excellent interpersonal relationship with CFT for smooth execution
  • Identify development need of team and map them under appropriate training matrix
  • Ensure individual contribution of self and team as per PRD guidelines
  • Possess the knowledge and exposure to Environment, Health, Safety, and Sustainability (EHSS) practices.
  • Follow Environment, Health, Safety, and Sustainability (EHSS) requirements at all times in the workplace ensuring individual and lab/plant safety.
  • Attend training on Environment, Health, Safety, and Sustainability (EHSS)
Education and Experience EducationPh.D Industry Experience 3-6 years of relevant experience Other competencies required for the role Functional or Technical skills Required Basic synthetic organic chemistry knowledge with an ability to propose synthetic routes rapidly that is safe and scalable. Excellent process research skills including detailed route scouting and evaluation of the preferred route during RFP evaluation Process optimization and development skills at par with customer/global standards. Basic knowledge in process engineering, particularly unit operations. Sound knowledge in process analytical chemistry Designing experiments and proposing study plan Strong analytical skills to derive trend, conclusion, and path forward, out of large set of data. Logical thinking and attention to details. Ensure the closure of OOS, OOT and deviation occurred in scale up batches. Providing exact root cause for the issues and performing why -why analysis to understand the challenges Experience in handling pyrophoric and moisture sensitive reagents on scale. Technology transfer (TT) / scale up, PRD, Manufacturing, and control Operational Excellence People Management Process Safety and GMP compliances and provide trainings to the team Knowledge on required analytical techniques / tools Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
