Job Description

Position Title: Senior DevOps EngineerDepartment: Technology Organization, Sensormatic SolutionsClassification: ExemptREPORTING RELATIONSHIPSPOSITION REPORTS TO: Global Leader, DevOpsPOSITIONS SUPERVISED: N/APOSITION PURPOSE: Provide support, automation, and infrastructure expertise for all aspects of the Sensormatic Solutions SaaS offering. Expertise will be centered on Cloud (particularly, but not limited to GCP) environments, with specific emphasis on Linux, Kubernetes, security, and CI/CD pipeline automation.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:

  1. Ability to build and improve CI/CD pipelines, working tightly with global software engineering teams to create a standardized set of solutions that continues to improve our ability to deliver technology products to the customers faster, more often, and with very high quality.
  2. Subject Matter Expert for the organization on DevOps and the technology infrastructure foundation specifically this will be expertise around Cloud, Instance level Security, automation and monitoring tools, and basic infrastructure / networking interaction.
  3. Continuous improvement around automation tools and processes for Infrastructure as Code specifically TerraForm, Puppet, Spinnaker, Jenkins and other tools as needed.
  4. Build and deploy servers/containers in an automated, scalable fashion in external cloud solutions (such as GCP and AWS).
  5. Monitor, tune and respond to system alerts and backup reports.
  6. Ability to identify inefficiencies and automate repetitive tasks
  7. Participate in 24x7 on-call support rotation.
  8. Work off hours periodically to accommodate maintenance/downtime windows.
  9. Help in designing and implementing infrastructure security principles
  10. Strong written skills to develop and maintain system documentation.
  11. Interact effectively with development and network teams to resolve problems during project planning and implementation phases.
  12. Manage multiple concurrent tasks, both administrative and project based.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:
  • Linux: any of RedHat/CentOS/Ubuntu
  • Automation tools experience: Any of TerraForm, Puppet, Spacewalk, Spinnaker, Chef, Jenkins, etc.
  • Strong knowledge of standard UNIX services such as NFS, SMTP, DNS, Syslog, SNMP
  • OS installation, upgrade and patch management
  • Strong knowledge of Cloud Administrative (GCP and AWS preferred)
  • Shell scripting Perl, Python or Ruby scripting a plus
  • Information security concepts
  • Strong network skills including routing, IP subnetting, VPN management, packet tracing, and Wireshark analysis
  • Experience with load balancing and certificate management
  • Containerization experience
  • Understanding of deployment and administration of Containers. Spinnaker / Kubernetes experience a huge plus
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 5+ years working in a software development organization, preferably with a background heavy on the automation technology tasks and processes - background as either a software developer (Java, Javascript, or Python preferred but not necessary) or a System Admin (Linux heavily preferred). Must have experience with cloud environments. Highly preferable to have experience in a SaaS customer facing 24x7x365 environment.SKILLS/ABILITIES:
  • Ability to solve problems quickly and completely
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent customer service skills to interface with both internal and external customers on a daily basis
  • Ability to work successfully both in a team environment and independently
QUALIFICATIONSEDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: BS in Computer Science or equivalent work experience. Work experience significantly more important than education.,
