ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- FABRICATION / ASSEMBLY ENGINEER The key tasks and responsibilities Scope of work1. To repeatedly and consistently deliver a fully compliant product to the correct quality requirements at a rate that satisfies the demands of the production schedule.2. Ensure that all staff under the Production Engineers jurisdiction can continuously and competently execute their tasks according to all works instructions, Specification, Drawing without deviation.3. Balance the allocation of resources available based on skills and abilities most appropriate for achieving the quality and schedule4. Responsible for the overall quality of the product on completion of their scope of work as per specification5. Task allocation- ensure that Contractors ( welders and fitters ) know what to do, how to do and how long they need to complete specific tasks- in strict accordance to drawing and documentation requirements.6. Responsible for the enforcement and control of discipline within their scope of work. This includes:a. Ensure that no man is standing or idling. All resources must be gainfully employedb. Staff take good care of their own and Organizations tools and equipment and to avoid wanton neglect and damagec. That Contractor staff under the Production Engineers control comply with the quality requirements and produce a compliant product. And that once a person knows what to do and the consequences of non-compliance- that they should never knowingly deviate.d. People work efficiently and safelye. Tidiness (5S) / Work place organizationf. Enhance productivity through promotion of Kaizen / Improvements at work place.g. No resource or product is damaged or incomplete7. Follow up for shortages forPurchase items Fabrication/ Assembly of Different model fans ( GE / NGE ), sub-assemblies, Accessories, etcReporting lines/interfacesReporting:Fabrication ManagerHead OperationsInterfaces:Cutting, Painting, Assembly, QC & Welding, Plant Engineering, Design, Procurement, Dispatch, QualityControlling tasks1. Ensure that all fixtures, equipment, cables and tools are in good order. It is the Production Engineers responsibility to notify the Plant Engineering department in good time in instances where corrective action is necessary when applicable for; plant and equipment, such that the production schedule is always preserved2. Continuous improvement- always gather the suggestions and ideas from within their team and put forward to the Improvement driving team for consideration. In addition-3. Always look to identify and minimise all non-value add tasks in production4. Zero lost time accidents- you are responsible for the safety of your workers, which includes ensuring that workers always work safely without putting themselves or others at risk.5. Never accept finished goods from the previous work stage with non-conformances6. Always deliver finished goods without non-conformances. Continuously practice stage inspection.7. That workers always have and use the correct personal protective equipment (PPE) and that it is safe and in good order8. Never use faulty lifting equipment9. Jointly responsible for accepting any new equipment or entire production lines/stages10. Implement changes as directed by Design. Give input to design for betterment of product (Ease of process of manufacturing).Authority to make decisionsSkills1. To reject any product received which is unsatisfactory or incomplete2. To stop production if they feel safety is compromised3. To stop production if equipment is damaged or there is missing or non-conforming material1. Able to command respect2. Know the differences between what is and what is not acceptable with respect to: quality requirements, welding, fixtures and the assembly process. Be able to point out errors in a timely manner and provide the appropriate corrective action or solution(s)- within reasonable limits3. Able to read and interpret drawings, and works instructions. Administrative Tasks1. Shop floor production Data reporting and submission to management on weekly / monthly basis2. Managing absenteeism and annual leave. At any point in time there should be enough available resources to satisfy the production schedule3. Manage the issuing of equipment and consumables to the production lineExperience 3 to 6 yearsSalary Range 3 to 4.8 LPA
