Senior Automation Quality Engineer - Openshift Application Networking

Job Description

The Red Hat Service Mesh team is looking for a Senior Automation Quality Engineer to join us. In this role, you will work on Red Hat OpenShift Service Mesh and the related technologies, including containers, Kubernetes, OpenShift, Istio, and Envoy proxy etc. Youll be required to interpret quality requirements for Service Mesh customer use cases and develop innovative automated solutions for testing real-world customer workflows in test environments based on OpenShift, Service Mesh setups, multiple clusters, etc.Red Hat is an open organization, where good ideas matter more than rank or tenure, and you can be a part of our unique culture. • Work in a fast-paced agile environment
• Work with other internal teams across the globe
• Design, develop, and maintain and extend automated test suites
• Explore, find, and document new bugs in the product using JIRA
• Review and verify bug fixes in cooperation with the development team
• Explore customer cases and help the development team replicating issues and scenarios
• Participate in the Istio community and contribute to the Istio open source project
• Derive test cases and steps from upstream open source project documentation
• Carry product from planning phase to release to customers
• Review reported issues and respond to questions from the field
What you will bring
• 5+ years of experience in software testing or development
• 3+ years of experience in programming languages like Golang, C++ or demonstrated ability to learn and apply these languages
• Knowledge of containers and containers orchestration
• Experience working with cloud providers
• Ability to work collaboratively with both rest of team and external teams
• Ability and desire to learn new technologies and tools
• Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently
• Good command of English and communication skills
• Experience in improving software engineering workflows, ability to prioritize tasks, and work on your own
The following will be considered a plus:
• Familiarity with networking concepts
• Open source contributions
• Ability to understand open source projects documentation and convert into test cases
• Knowledge of Kubernetes, and cloud-native applications deployments
• Experience with Linux and bash scripting
• Experience with agile practices and testing methodologies and techniques
• Knowledge of continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) tooling and mechanisms like Jenkins and Github action
• Experience with Service Mesh architecture and related technologies
