Job Description

This Role The head of Analytics Tooling COE within Core Analytics is focused on creating and maintaining a world-class analytical environment for Alteryx; Tableau ; and Analytical Datastores (with potential to extend to Qlik / PowerBI / other platforms over time).This includes 5 primary areas of responsibility:
• Create (and continuously improve) a governance lifecycle which allows user to safely; effectively migrate new / updated projects to production with a minimum of operational & technical effort & cost. This includes best-in-class version-control; change control; release processes; inventory & catalog maint etc.
• Create (and continuously improve) the suite of processes to govern and maintain the health of the inventory of assets; and the health of the infrastructure and platform this includes supporting users; upgrades; maintaining the hygiene of environments etc.
• Product Analytics: Derive insights from the metadata of each analytical asset to uplift the data environment; uplift the practices in the team; extend the active user base (close the knowing-doing gap)
• User Acceleration: work with the community of analytics user to solve common problems, provide accelerator tools, reduce friction, increase ability for users to be productive
• Represent AWM in the firm-wide product management cabinet to improve the processes; environment; and practice across the firm.
Additionally this individual will be expected to contribute to the thought leadership of Core Analytics and the CDO data environment more broadly. Core Responsibilities
• Set up and operate processes to manage & administer analytical platforms such as Alteryx; Tableau; and Analytical Databases including user provisioning & support; maintenance of server hygiene and operational effectiveness; server mgmt.
  • Note: the operation of these processes may be shared with engineering or other groups
• Set up and operate processes to manage delivery of these analytical platforms such as SLA tracking; incident & problem management
• Partner with control; risk; data privacy and other groups to develop and continuously improve the governance process for analytical assets meeting the needs both of data control, and analytical velocity
• Develop; maintain; practice to ensure that the platforms can operate within recovery times (e.g. disaster simulation), and that outage procedures are rehearsed
• Ensure that critical practices are documented; complied to; and maintained over time.
• Develop; attract; and invest in talent : Create both a career and development path for the current team; and add to the capability & performance through identifying and attracting top talent to add to the group. Create a sustaining learning culture, and a robust succession plan for all levels of the group.
• Delivery: Effectively manage teams toward robust delivery providing a framework for continuous delivery; while also managing the book of work to ensure delivery to commitments and customer value. .
• Thought leadership: Provide leadership & best practices in analytics; data-driven management; and organizational change towards a self-service innovation. Connect insights from process (LEAN / Six Sigma); technology; data & analytics; and human factors to provide a broader view of the opportunities across AWM.
• Risk Management: Work with risk & control partners to ensure that the products and services provided by this team meet all required regulations and policies while partnering to ensure that controls are designed and implemented to appropriately manage risk.
• Product Management: Embed a culture and practice of product management with true customer obsession in identifying and embracing opportunities to accelerate our user community including a roadmap of uplifts over time.
• Community of Practice: Create a community of practice for all practitioners; and use this process to continuously and rigorously flatten areas of friction in the overall analytical process.
Qualifications / Skills Required:
• Required: Experience in setting up and running technical infrastructure (DevOps); such as databases; web servers; Tableau / BOXI / Qlik servers etc.
• Know how to create a control framework for managing a critical dev-ops need (hygiene; entitlement; security; monitoring; and standards) in line with firm standards
• Required: Understanding of analytics & data platform management
• Desired: Experience automating / streamlining dev-ops & support processes with platforms such as Service Now or similar
• Desired: Deep understanding of analytics & data platform management with preference for Alteryx, Tableau.
• Understand and be able to automate critical functions on the platform
• Know the competitors to this platform, and the pros/ cons; as well as the interactions between the various tools (e.g. know how to integrate Alteryx to Tableau)
• Know the integration points to your platform; including SDK; API;
• Know the integration of upstream and downstream platforms like JIRA Board, Change Management tools like Service Now and Confluence
• Concepts of Data Engineering Data warehousing, Indexing, ETL, Dimensions and Schemas
• Understanding of DDL and DML
• Have the ability to create & deliver a framework for reusable assets; market these like a service; and continue to uplift through continuous review
• Advanced analytical skills to use the telemetry data to understand adoption; skills (and gaps); and common needs;
