Job Description

Provides technical support of products by resolving technical issues with the business while meeting SLA requirements. AS a member of the DBA Team, this role is responsible for database management tasks, business escalations and business reporting; May implement additional customer services to generate additional functionality.Job Functions

  • SQL Server Installation, configuration and administration.
  • Work with, and provide guidance to, Designers, Project Managers, Business/Systems analysts and Testers to code and support standards-compliant solutions.
  • Ensure the integrity, availability and performance of SQL Server systems in all environments from development through to production.
  • Implement and maintain SQL Server Disaster Recovery capability.
  • Manage SQL Server security in line with industry best practices.
  • Deploy database-related changes to test and production environments within an ITIL-compliant framework.
  • Work within the team to deliver services to customers and meet agreed deliverables and service levels.
  • Minimise rework of deployments, service requests and incidents.
  • Plan own workload to achieve deliverables in required time frames.
Technical Skills Set - Selection Criteria
  • 3 years minimum experience managing Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 and 2016 systems in development and production environments.
  • Installation and configuration of SQL Server components, including Service Packs and patches.
  • Demonstrated experience in SQL Server performance tuning and problem resolution.
  • Demonstrated database monitoring, backup, transfer and optimisation skills.
  • Working knowledge of SQL Server HADR technologies, including Log Shipping, Mirroring, Availability Groups and Windows Clustering.
  • Understanding of SQL Server development and security best practices and demonstrated ability in their implementation.
  • Experience in creating, deploying and troubleshooting SSIS packages.
  • Experience with version control processes and systems. TFS experience would be an advantage.
  • The ability to control the release of database schema and procedure changes to test and production systems, working with all stake holders in the SDLC.
  • Experience in impact analysis on database change requests.
  • Exposure to SQL Server capacity planning.
  • Experience administering very large databases.
  • A consultative approach to solving problems.
