NewCo will be an independent company with equal partners, Medtronic & DaVita. It will be established in calendar 2023 as a new company (NewCo) formed from Medtronic s Renal Care Solutions Operating Unit focused on providing innovative technologies to support kidney care patients. While you will start your employment with Medtronic, upon establishment of NewCo your employment will transfer to NewCo and you will no longer be employed by Medtronic. NewCo is uniquely poised to transform renal care and dialysis, building on Medtronic s innovation and technology pipeline. The business will have the singular focus, financial commitment, deep domain expertise, and global footprint needed to accelerate the development and commercialization of affordable and scalable life-saving renal care technologies particularly our transformative home dialysis platform technologie s . The candidate will have technical leadership and people management responsibilities of the software team working on the Dialysis product. He/she would be expected to understand the product functionality and be passionate about developing and inspiring bright individuals with various degrees of experience and ensure that the team is fully engaged in executing tasks towards the successful delivery of the software for the Dialysis product. He/she would manage the assignment of the project activities amongst the team members, collaborate with other project stakeholders and manage recruitment and development of the talent to ensure successful completion of the Software development and testing for the Dialysis product. The candidate will work in collaboration with a global team based in India, Italy and USA, throughout the product development lifecycle to bring new products to market. He/she will need to have a global mindset, be comfortable dealing with ambiguity and be confident about combining technical expertise with logical reasoning to make trade-offs between features, time-to-market, and budget. He/she should have strong people management skills, an entrepreneurial spirit, a can-do attitude, and possess great communication/collaboration skills. Position Responsibilities:
• Provide technical leadership for a software engineering (software development) team.
• Perform functional management duties for a software engineering (software development) team.
• Work with program management and project leads to develop resource plans and ensure that the project is staffed with talented and trained engineering resources.
• Ensure timely recruitment of new full-time engineering resources as well as work with different contracting agencies for staff augmentation needs for the project. Ensure a right mix of full time and contract resources for the project.
• Manage the assignment of responsibilities of resources during the product development stages for a given project and while transitioning between different projects
• Ensure that all team members have well-defined personal goals that flow-down from the group s overall objectives, explain the metrics that will be used to evaluate their performance, and provide detailed feedback on timely and regular basis
• Help create a work culture that emphasizes quality, innovation, accountability, and integrity
• Expertise the product functionality to be able to guide the team in various technical discussions and collaborations with the global teams.
• Identify and nurture high-potential talent, and proactively address performance issues
• Lead review activities and enable high quality reviews. (Example: SW architecture, SW detailed design, source code, unit test code, requirements etc.).
• Work with quality/reliability engineering to identify and minimize sources of technical and practical risk, and ensure the product meets medical device-related safety standards.
• Ensure compliance of our software development process to the IEC 62304 standards.
• Shall do hands-on when needed to resolve complex issues and develop new features.
• Shall create and review software architecture, detailed design and software development processes or process improvements.
Basic Qualifications:
• B.E. from reputed university in Computer Science/Engineering or Electronics Engineering
• 15+ years combined experience in software development, technical leadership, and people management.
• 8+ years of experience in Android development from concept to launch. 5+ years in technical leadership role.
• Minimum 3 years experience in people management. 5+ years of experience is preferred.
• Experience in development of software user interface screen workflows, use cases and conditions, error scenario handling. Experience in cloud applications development is a plus.
• Strong software engineering skills of software architecture, software design and software development.
• Ability to resolve complex software problems. Strong experience of software development life cycle.
• Ability to understand the product needs, customer perspective and experience in translating software requirements to SW architecture, SW design.
• Very good documentation skills with good documentation practices.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail and thoroughness
• Able to work in direct, cross-functional, and cross-cultural teams, with strong influencing skills
• Able to participate in late evening and/or early morning calls
• Strong organization and time management skills; ability to manage multiple priorities
• Self-starter, strong work ethic and initiative in accomplishing objectives, and delivering in ambiguous environments
Desired/Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in medical software development is highly preferred.
• Medical Device development experience, strong knowledge of medical device quality and regulatory standards (ISO 13485, ISO 14791, IEC 60601, IEC 62304, etc.), CFR 820.30 for FDA, DICOM, HL7 Communication standards.
• Working knowledge in Dialysis machines, Working knowledge on graphical user interface software systems.
• Working knowledge of information security, especially as applicable to healthcare sector
• Working knowledge of hardware and electromechanical engineering concepts (microprocessors/microcontrollers, wired/wireless communications, motors, sensors, valves, fluid circuits, etc.)
