Job Description

*Purpose of the Job

• Administer the Arcadis Global GIS Platform

Context Reports to the Global GIS Platform Owner

• Implements GIS technology best practice and standardization through system administration and optimization and contributes to the Arcadis global GIS knowledge base.
• Number of (in)direct reports: 0-5
• Relied on by the business and Technology to implement robust enterprise GIS platform management across multiple ESRI implementations.
• Supports the Global GIS Platform Owner in guiding the Arcadis GIS professional services, Arcadis GIS and data analytics communities, and IT services.

Strategy Optimization

• Actively supports the delivery of the Arcadis global GIS strategy through implementing GIS system administration and configuration.
• Enthusiastically contributes towards GIS platform technical planning to support GIS strategy delivery.

General Management

• Facilitates competence and knowledge development through sharing and promoting best practice.
• Works as part of an efficient, effective, and manageable team that is in control and complies with relevant organizational directions.
• Coordinates with business lines on GIS proposal implementation and resources.
• Responds to and closes out IT service desk tickets related to the GIS platform.

Technology Solutions

• Administer system access and security for ArcGIS Enterprise (Portal for ArcGIS and ArcSDE) and ArcGIS Online.
• Act as an enterprise GIS subject matter expert. Provide technical support to Arcadis GIS staff in relation to the global GIS platform.
• Monitor whole GIS platform performance, recommend and participate in performance tuning activities.
• Report on the data and performance of the systems and applications as required.
• Maintain application and database accessibility, integrity, and recoverability. Resolve performance problems and recover from system outages by working alongside global IT Teams and vendors as required.
• Administer and maintain production and test databases and servers ensuring high availability and recoverability standards.
• Assist in developing and improving global standards, procedures, and practices for applications and databases. This includes working with project delivery teams and the GIS community to establish standards and templates for operations, upgrades, migrations and onboarding of new applications and/or clients;
• Recommend, schedule, and implement application patches, upgrades, and enhancements. Install, test and document software patches and upgrades.

Secures the availability of information to all service professionals.Works with the GIS Platform Owner to create clear dashboards that analyze, explain, and periodically report achieved business results to relevant stakeholders and analyze business information in a way that supports management decision-making., *Required knowledge level:

• 2+ years of experience in a similar role
• 7+ years of experience with ESRI products
• Familiar with ESRI Licensing
• In depth knowledge of ArcGIS Enterprise administration
• Proficient in Python and T-SQL scripting
• Strong understanding of database standards and best practices
• Understanding of SQL Server concepts such as permissions, maintenance jobs, and database configuration items to improve GIS performance.
• Ability to communicate information and issues clearly and succinctly with both technical and non-technical personnel.
• Demonstrated proficiency in T-SQL (queries, Stored Procedures, User-Defined Functions, Views, Indexes, etc.)

Desirable knowledge level:

• Experience of building web-based mapping and mobile applications using ESRl software
• Experience of using the ArcGIS API for Javascript
• Experience of using the ArcGIS API for Python
• 2+ years experience with ArcGIS Monitoring and backup tools
• 4+ years of work experience performing Database Development and Administration duties on SQL Server databases
• 2+ years of experience with Cloud technologies (Microsoft Azure preferred)
• 2+ years of experience with implementing and administering SQL Server databases in Microsoft Azure
• 2+ years experience managing multi-user geodatabase environment
• 1+ years of hands-on experience with Azure Site Recovery
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, and customer service.
