* JOB PURPOSE: As an Inventory Manager at Caterpillar, you will have an opportunity to work with enterprise partners to reduce aftermarket inventory and supply chain related costs and other critical supply chain activities supported for the global Aftermarket Parts Management team. Reporting to the incumbent are Project Leaders, Senior Inventory Analysts, Advanced Inventory Analysts, Inventory Analysts & Logistics Planning Analysts. The incumbent provides guidance to Logistics Division General Managers, Consultants, Project Leaders, Account Managers and a variety of middle and upper level management on supply chain activities.JOB DUTIES: This position works with internal and external partners to build lean supply chain capability in the areas of material replenishment to business divisions, improved Sales and Operations Planning, high-velocity throughput, optimized logistics and capacity planning. This position works on project teams comprised of multi-functional resources, including business division supply chain planning, operations, receiving, Global Transportation, Demand and Orders, Material Requirements Planning and Logistics.Planning and directing the material planning and material logistic functions to meet business plan objectives and satisfy customer needs, managing daily activities and priorities for filling critical customer orders.Selecting, training and assisting subordinates while providing career guidance and opportunity for added experience and future advancement. Developing staff skills by focusing on evaluative / analytical thinking, innovative approaches to problem solving and team buildingThe incumbent provides supervision to a staff of support and management employees which includes guiding personnel development, team development and performance requirements and measurements. The position is responsible for personnel issues, work group goal setting and performance reviews.This role is also responsible for actively engaging on issues requiring higher levels of attention/prioritization to order issues that are not making appropriate progress with respect to estimated ship date setting, timely of response and conflicting needs., *
