Are you ready to lead in this new era of technology and solve some of the world s most challenging problems If so, let s talk.Your Role and Responsibilities At IBM Aspera, we are looking for an experienced L3 Software Engineer who is a self-starter, quick learner, and who enjoys working in a challenging, fast-paced environment. Our patented, Emmy award-winning FASP protocol is at the core of next-generation transport technologies that move the world s data at maximum speed regardless of file size, transfer distance and network conditions. As a L3 Software Engineer in the Aspera On Cloud (AoC) team, you shall become an expert on our software as a service (SaaS) web application technology stack, including popular and award-winning applications like AoC Files & Packages, AoC Automation & AoC Analytics. On your way to become an expert in AoC, you will acquire a deep knowledge of the codebase, how it is typically deployed in all the major public clouds and in hybrid cloud environments.Responsibilities include providing advanced remote technical support assistance to our clients using Problem Determination (PD) and Problem Source Identification (PSI) skills, to determine if the root cause is with our product or with the customer environment or how it is operated. This will allow you to create and communicate clear action-plans and give directions to L2 Support engineers, driving to resolution of customer issues, using IBM support tools and processes. You may also work on creating patches and hot fixes in collaboration with other developers in the AoC and SaaS DevOps team.Must be willing to work on a weekend rotation to lead diagnosis of critical customer outages Required Technical and Professional Expertise
    • Knowledge of Linux, Windows and MacOS operating systems 3 years
    • Strong understanding of web technologies, web development methodologies, and microservices architecture. (HTTP, REST, OAuth, MVC and other web framework architectures, etc.) 3 years
    • Experience as a Software Developer in at least one dynamic scripting language (Ruby, Python, Elixir). Experience in developing on Ruby On Rails is a big plus! 2 years
    • Experience with debugging and troubleshooting complex web applications. (Chrome/Firefox/Edge DevTools, SQL, Tcpdump or Wireshark etc.) 2 years
    • Strong understanding of container technologies, Docker/Podman, Kubernetes, Cloud skills (AWS, Azure or GCP) 3 years
    • System Scripting skills, such as Unix shell, Windows batch, Ruby or Python.
    • Experience with troubleshooting technical issues in customer-facing situations (root-cause analysis and technical problem solving) 3 years
    • Communication and customer focus skills be able to understand customer problems and articulate current status clearly
    Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
    • Foundation in JavaScript frameworks and libraries (React)
    • Golang or Elixir development
    • Passion for modern architecture and design principles
    • Enjoy working in an Agile development environment and taking initiatives in improving systems for the sake of your teammates and our users.
