Job Summary Information Function: Principal engineer in the development of java applications Sub-Function: Owner for the architecture, design and implementation of software applications. Job Purpose: Principal Engineer will be a key player in determining the architecture and technical direction for the highly scalable multi-tenant platform technology components which include application code development, middleware development, database design, web services development, and associated cloud services. Exposure to Cloud for leveraging scalability to the platform. Job Level Summary Information Scope: Principal Engineer will be a key player in determining the architecture and technical direction for the highly scalable multi-tenant platform technology components which include application code development, middleware development, database design, web services development Impact : The engineer will be a key member of the global development team that will deliver the enterprise applications on-time, within budget and in accordance to the defined architectural vision and performance expectations. Knowledge: Strong UML, Design Patterns, OOPS knowledge with strong programming fundamentals. Problem Solving: Must be proficient in analyzing highly complex issues and architectures and reducing them to practice. Strong analytical skills are essential. People/Function Management: Must have excellent communication and team management skills to effectively lead junior engineers and to collaborate with the globally disperse development teams. Supervision Received: Supervised by Engineering Manager. Must be self-motivated and a self-starter Customer Focus: The engineer is responsible to deliver high quality applications that meet the needs of the different Tyco verticals. Must proactively identify and react to changing technical and business requirements. Interpersonal Skills: Must be a team player and mentor. Must possess strong interpersonal skills to work collaboratively within the team and with members of other teams.Preferred Education: Bachelor s degree in Computer Science or in a related engineering field. Minimum Preference Experience: 10 years of experience in software development. 8+ in Java/J2EE. Exposure to Cloud must. Technical Qualification Knowledge / Skills / Competency Type Qualification Enterprise Operations / ArchitectureMust have spent at least 8 years developing large-scale N-tier, enterprise-wide, complex information technology initiatives, at both an infrastructure and an application level. Minimum of 2 years experience with performance and scalability tuning of high-volume websites/applications Required Java (7.0/8.0), J2EE, spring, Spring Boot, Hibernate, JMS, Web Services (SOAP/REST), LDAP, GIT, SVN, MAVEN, ANT, Jenkins, MSQL/MYSQL, Good Knowledge in DS/Algorithm. Optional NOSQL/ Big data technologies (Hadoop/Storm/Kafka/ZooKeeper), HTML5, AngularJS.Additional Information
