Job Description

    The team that built the innovative Silicon IP AZ1 Neural Edge that is powering the latest generation of Echo devices is looking for an Multimedia SOC Architect to continue to innovate on behalf of our customers. We are a part of Amazon Lab126 that revolutionized reading with our Kindle family of products and reimagined user experience through Echo and Alexa. We want you to help us build on the success of our first generation of ML accelerator at edge.Key job responsibilities* Propose new architectures for future products, make vs. buy decision.* Interface external customers (product, display, system architecture, operations, marketing) Partner with procurement and operational teams to keep costs and proposed solutions attractive., * Bachelor of Science - in physics, electrical, optical, imaging or computer engineering * 10 years of industry experience driving architecture for multimedia IPs such as Display controller, ISP (Image Signal Processor), GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) or other video processing IPs * Experience in designing and evaluating architectures ranging from high performance to low power ends of the spectrum* Familiarity with different video codecs and performance metrics associated with these codecs. * Display Picture Quality and tuning expert, including familiarity with noise reduction, visual artifacts, format conversions. * Hands on knowledge of HDL languages Verilog/VHDL* Ability to take customer requirements and turn them into scalable hardware architectures* Hands on experience at churning out image processing algorithms that are synthesizable in hardware* Strong coding skills necessary to prototype in HDL as well as baremetal level software* Familiarity with G-Streamer, CUDA, OpenCL, OpenGL, Media Controller Frameworks. * Good understanding of embedded Linux concepts to be able to design IP architectures that are suitable for use in embedded Linux environment* Hands on knowledge of Linux, Android, C/C++ and System-C* Ability to create documentation of programming sequences to be consumed in embedded driver development of the IP* Excellent communication (written and verbal) skills.* Experience with system metrics generation and estimation ranging from Memory, Bandwidth, Frame rate, Latency, Power * Master of Science/Engineering preferred 15+ years of customer-facing experience, preferably in consumer devices domain.* Demonstrated ability to think strategically about business, product, and technical challenges. * Working knowledge of popular communications protocols such as WebRTC and SIP and knowledge of video codecs such as H.264, H.265, and AV1. * Experience designing with HDMI 4.x,HDCP advanced signalling, signal integrity and familiarity with display PHYs (such as MIPI DSI) * Synthesis, layout, timing and DFT experience for back-end processes.
