Operations & Delivery Engineer - CMS R&DThis role has been designated as Office , which means you will primarily work from an HPE office.Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) advances the way people live and work.   • Design, Install, Configure, Operate and Administrate our public and on-prem private Cloud Native Infra structure for the HPE R&D Telecommunications business-unit, CMS, which uses that infrastructure to develop leading edge telecommunication services in the 5G space
  • Consult your R&D customers towards the cloud infrastructure setup corresponding best to their needs
  • Evolve the cloud native infrastructure and your knowledge/experience towards new technologies (service mesh, observability, Container, Infra-as-Code.), service-models (IaaS) and operating models (DevOps, Agile)
  • Maintain the cloud infrastructure operational and up-to-date by ensuring on-time planning, sizing & purchasing of new infrastructure equipment
Description:
  • Manage the set up and hosting of development, tests and production cloud infrastructure environments in Bangalore/India for HPE s telecom biz unit (CMS). Going from initial design, up-to hands-on installation, operation and maintenance
  • Interact with internal service providers, such as the IT department, to manage eg IP allocation, resolve network issues, ensure Cyber-Security compliance etc.
  • Consult and support the R&D user community on Cloud Infra structure sizing, architecture and solutions as a function of the user s targeted use-case (eg functional testing, performance testing, build-chains (CI/CD), .)
  • Keep current infra operational and efficient while evolving it
  • Support & contribute to the evolution of the Cloud Infra structure to new technologies extending from OpenStack towards Containers, Kubernetes and beyond
  • Foster and evangelize best practices for Site/Service Reliability Engineering
  • Enable the delivery of XaaS(as a service) leveraging automation technologies such as Ansible, terraforms
  • Stay informed on latest technologies and explore these to become familiar
  • Being part of the global WW team (India, US, France), you are based in Bangalore and from there work across cultures and geographies
Experience and Skills Required
  • Broad knowledge and experience in cloud and virtualization technologies (OpenStack, k8s, ocp)
  • Openstack installation and configuration using RHOSP/triple-o model.
  • Kubernetes and OCP installation and configuration using manuall and automation methods
  • Hands on deployment automation and its troubleshooting using ansible/puppet/heat etc and troubleshooting code to fix install issues and possible contribute fixes.
  • L2/L3 networking knowledge with external switch along with knowledge of vSwitches/vLans and its working, routing, NAT, firewall (iptables/firewalld) etc.
  • Preferably having knowledge of SDN, SDS (ceph, gluster, vSAN, OCS etc)
  • Neutron, nova, cinder, glance and other important Openstack component knowledge and troubleshooting including basic mysql/DB manipulation.
  • Kubernetes, OCP, operators, EFK, Prometheus, Grafana, alertmanager, istio, OCP RBAC, SCC, monitoring and remediation.
  • Sizing and capacity management at host and pod level.
  • Hardware and OS configuration including DL/BL, iLO, raid, storage knowledge and experience along with considerable depth in Linux/RHEL OS configuration would be a plus.
  • Familiar with HPE Infrastructure portfolio (HW an SW)
  • Knowledge of VMWare and its operations.
  • Can work with limited guidance while sharing & cooperating with the greater team when needed
  • Contribute to knowledgebase articles based on troubleshooting experience on job.
  • Demonstrated history of working in the information technology and services industry and willing to show this during an assessment of his technical skills as part of the selection procedure.
  • Education & Experience: Bachelor/Master Degree, plus 2 to 10 years in IT/Telecoms industry. R&D experience preferred.
  • Experience in working across multiple sites, organizations and cultures
  • Proven track of record in technology management in the fields of IT and Telecom, specifically data center management
  • Multi-tasking and prioritization skills
