Senior Consultant - Container InfrastructurePosting Location : Location US-VA-RemotePosting date 10 hours ago(9/1/2021 10:16 AM)Job ID 89275 Workday ID R-015524 Job summary The Red Hat Public Sector Consulting team is looking for a Senior Consultant with a focus on container infrastructure to join us. In this role, you will guide the adoption of Red Hat s solutions with customers. Through a series of in-person and remote interactions, you ll earn the trust and confidence of customers engineering, development, and operations teams by aligning their requirements and use cases with the functional capabilities of Red Hat s solutions. You ll play a key part in bringing together cross-functional Red Hat Product, Engineering, Support, Sales, and Services teams to meet the needs of our most demanding customers. Youll serve as a customer advocate within these teams, aiming to deliver the right solutions and ensuring that these solutions are implemented and supported in an innovative and reliable way. As a Senior Consultant, you ll learn to implement next-generation cloud infrastructure and delivery workflows on large-scale container platform clusters using Java, Node.js, Docker, Kubernetes, Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform, Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), and Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform. You won t be expected to know everything on day one, but your ability to learn new technology quickly will be essential. You will have to hold an active Top Secret security clearance. This is a position based in the northern Virginia region with potential weekly travels to customer sites outside of the DC metro area, following Red Hat s COVID-19 guidelines. Successful applicants must reside in a state where Red Hat is registered to do business. Primary job responsibilities

• Implement automated and containerized cloud application platform solutions
• Focus on infrastructure concerns including networking, storage, virtualization, security, logging, monitoring, high availability, and system resilience
• Learn new technologies quickly, including topics like container orchestration, container registries, container build strategies, cloud storage, and software-defined networks (SDN)
• Travel frequently to work alongside customers in government facilities, following Red Hat s COVID-19 guidelines
• Help other consultants learn DevOps and container technologies and processes
• Apply new technologies, frameworks, and methodologies to container platforms
• Demonstrate technical leadership in container platforms and cloud application solutions by implementing complex large-scale container platform solutions

You will be expected to complete or learn the following during the first year in the role:

• Complete the training program on Docker, Kubernetes, and Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform technologies and related DevOps topics
• Understand how to stand up production-ready container platforms integrated with existing enterprise systems
• Collaborate on delivery of customer requirements using Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform
• Gain knowledge of how to deploy source code into running, scalable containers in automated fashion at enterprise scale
• Gain experience working with Red Hat s offerings and solutions
• Gain knowledge of how a customer use case can be developed into a project plan and how those requirements map to Red Hat technologies
• Understand how Red Hat technologies can transform software delivery like DevOps practices in large organizations

Required skills

• 5+ years of technology experience like consulting, operations, and development and related internships
• 3+ years of experience with Linux system administration, preferably Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) or a derivative
• 2+ years of platform scripting experience with the Ruby, Python, or Go languages
• Experience implementing a continuous integration (CI) or continuous development (CD) pipeline
• Knowledge of cloud-based platforms like Amazon Web Services (AWS), C2S, GovCloud, Microsoft Azure, etc.
• Excellent proactive problem-solving and consulting skills
• Highly motivated and able to learn on your own and quickly learn new technologies and best practices
• Excellent communication and writing skills
• Active Top Secret government clearance with full scope polygraph
• Security+ certification or willingness to achieve it
• Expertise in Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform is a plus
