Job Description

DNV GL - Energy s Energy Advisory group has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Engineer for its Power System Advisory (PSA) Department. DNV GL-Energy s PSA provides creative, cost effective and practical solutions to stakeholders in the power generation, transmission and distribution systems including ISOs/RTOs, power utilities, developers, asset owners and operators as well as investors. The Senior Engineer must have a demonstrated experience to perform power system studies such as Steady State, Dynamic Stability and Short Circuit studies. This role also involves potential growth of the Power System Advisory team in other regions and high-value delivery of consulting services contributing to PSA s overall regional success

Tasks May Include: (Essential roles, responsibilities and activities a candidate may expect)

  • Performing reliability and/or planning studies including generation interconnection studies, economic studies, steady state studies, stability studies and short circuit studies (fault analysis) for medium/large power networks
  • Identifying MW generation injection capability at point of interconnection subject to reliability constraints in various planning regions;
  • Performing regional compliance studies;
  • Managing expectations of service leads, management and clients in terms of projects, reports, presentations and deliverables in a timely manner adhering to the quality standards;
  • Assist with the team s research goals in terms of development of new techniques and/or analytical tools to further the team s performance in terms of efficiency and/or capability improvements
Position Qualifications
  • Bachelor degree or higher in Electrical Engineering with emphasis on Electric Power Systems;
  • At least five (5) years of experience in transmission planning related studies preferably in a utility, power trading, renewable energy company or consulting environment.
  • At least 3 years of hands-on experience with power system analysis software packages such as: PSS/E, Powerworld, PSLF, PSCAD/EMTDC, ETAP, TARA, ASPEN.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills.

Preferred Skills

  • Working knowledge of automation scripts such as VB, VB.net and Python for development of automation modules is preferred for this position.
  • Knowledge/experience with MATLAB is preferred.
