The job involves design and development of UCS Server system management firmware and management software. Role involves working through full software development cycle using agile methodologies covering end to end design, develop, testing and deploy. You will be part of a dedicated team where open communications, empowerment, innovation, partnership and customer success are the foundations of the team.Roles/ResponsibilitiesIn this highly visible role as a senior software engineer,Lead BMC (Baseboard Management Controller) firmware development for UCS compute platformsTake ownership of overall platform BMC development and specific features throughout the platform lifecycleInteract with silicon partners to understand the next generation ASIC/processor/platform architecture, identify the areas of concern, and collaborate to address themCollaborate with various UCS cross-functional teams such as Hardware, Network, Storage, BIOS, BMC, Management software, Manufacturing, QA, and OS teams throughout the platform lifecycle.Create design/functional specifications for the proprietary BMC Asic and Platform featuresTroubleshoot and drive the Platform and BMC issues to closure.Preferred QualificationsBS or MS in Computer Science/Engineering, Electronics engineering, or related field8-12 years professional experience in C, C++, Embedded Firmware development for server platforms.Should have hands on C programming expertise in Inter Process Communication and good debugging capability using debuggers.Deep understanding of Server Platform Management architecture and specificationsExperience in U-boot, Linux Kernel programming, Device Drivers and OS Internals.Hands-on experience with board bring-up and validation in the lab.Experience debugging with hardware tools such as JTAG debuggers and Protocol AnalyzersFamiliar with I2c, GPIO, SPI, eMMC and other hardware interfacesFamiliar with BMC out of band management interfaces/protocols such as PECI, Redfish, and IPMI is a plusExcellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teamsWe Are Cisco#WeAreCisco, where each person is unique, but we bring our talents to work as a team and make a difference.
