Job Description

As a member of our Software Engineering Group you will dive head-first into creating innovative solutions that advance businesses and careers. You ll join an inspiring and curious team of technologists dedicated to improving the design, analytics, development, coding, testing and application programming that goes into creating high quality software and new products. You ll be tasked with keeping the team and other key stakeholders up to speed on the progress of what s being developed. Coming in with an understanding of the importance of end-to-end software development-such as Agile frameworks-is key. And best of all, you ll be working with and sharing ideas, information and innovation with our global team of technologists from all over the worldThis role requires a wide variety of strengths and capabilities, including:

  • Requires 8-10 years of work experience in related field
  • Hands on experience with mainframe based applications built with COBOL, CICS, JCL, CHANGEMAN, DB2, MQ and VSAM
  • Write, modify, maintain and enhance COBOL programs in a z/OS environment.
  • DB2 SQL development using static and dynamic SQL in COBOL, SQL stored procedures. Well versed with compilation, deployment.
  • DB2: In depth knowledge of Precompiler, language co-processor, DB2 SQL statement analysis, ability to resolve DB2 related errors during the generation of the executable.
  • In-depth understanding of DB2 stored procedures, compilation process, DBRM generation process, DB2 package bind process.
  • CICS: In-depth knowledge of CICS commands, background tasking, channels/containers. Exposure to CICS task recovery designs related to DB2 and VSAM. Exposure to TDQUEUES, TSQUEUES and how to write data and retrieve data from temporary storage queues. Exposure to CICS thread safe programming techniques.
  • WebSphere MQ: In depth knowledge of MQ command translator services and troubleshooting MQ error messages during program executable generation process.
  • An in-depth understanding of executable generation for programs with CICS Webservices, EXCI
  • File Aid: extract and analyze compiler options using file aid. Browse a file using COBOL layouts in FileAid.
  • A good understanding of sort utilities(ICETOOL, DFSORT, SYNCSORT) and control card generation for optimal sorting.
  • Operational knowledge of File transfer techniques using- NDM, Connect direct, sFTP, FTP over TLS.
  • A sound knowledge of how to use abend-aid to troubleshoot application program abends. Familiarity with S0C7, S0C4 abends and how to write and implement defensive coding techniques to prevent abends.
  • Familiarity with version control Tools - Endeavor, Changeman etc.
