We are a new team building India-first technology to solve for the instant grocery shopping needs with Just Walk Out Amazon Kiosks and ultra-fast delivery from Hybrid Stores (offline grocery stores that also serve as dark stores for online orders) in India.A Senior Software Development Manager in Amazon is an engineering leader role that builds grounds-up technical capabilities while influencing end-to-end business and product strategy and long term plans. This role leads two strategic programs in the India Grocery space: (1) Amazon Kiosk a Just Walk Out experience for shopping from Kiosks in residential and commercial spaces to serve customers instant shopping needs deploying a combination of edge computing and computer vision with cutting edge India-first innovation fully owned and led by the team. Amazon Kiosk provides delightful shopping experience to customers akin to picking up items from one s own refrigerator without the hassle to pay upfront -- with computer vision and edge computing identifying items taken and billing the customer later a Just Walk Out convenience. (2) Hybrid Stores a series of under-the-roof technology innovations in Amazon s strategic offline 3P partner grocery stores that also function as dark stores for online orders. These are key assets and strategic to grow Amazon s grocery business online and offline. If you feel excited by the challenge of setting the course for India-first innovations, building and launching net new technology led by India grocery team and being hands-on involved in the delivery of these initiatives, this may be the next big career move for you.As Senior Manager of Software Development for Amazon Just Walk Out Kiosk and HybridStores Tech team, you will: Own building India-first ground-up tech capabilities that seed Just Walk Out grocery shopping experiences in India starting with Amazon Kiosk, deploying combination of edge computing and computer vision. This is a unique opportunity to innovate with Hardware and Software engineering to seed Just Walk Out center of excellence in India, led by India development team where we build fully owned services while closely leveraging assets and expertise from Amazon s internal Amazon Go platform teams. You will own building technology that innovates for ultra-fast grocery shopping from offline grocery stores from Amazon s 3P partners that also function as dark stores for online orders with unique innovation challenges for catalog, inventory, pricing and promotions led integrations. These power superior online shopping experiences, offline in-store shopping experience innovations as well as Hybrid (online order offline pickup) shopping experiences. To enable business initiatives, you will lead the definition and execution of strategic projects, drive multi-year technical vision for both Amazon Kiosk and Hybrid Store programs that are still in seed stage but growing rapidly (we have doubled our tech investment YoY in the past 2 years for each program). You will have end to end ownership of cross-functional projects, including product definition, roadmap/resource planning and project execution. You will work closely with internal business and operations leadership, senior executive leadership in 3P partner organizations, as well as senior executive leadership at Amazon, to define the product and build vision for the program. At the heart of this role is technology innovation. You will be hands-on in driving the delivery of critical technical initiatives, right from building the vision, requirements definition, designing solution with India-first innovation in combination with leveraging Amazon s global technology solutions and delivering high quality scalable tech capabilities. As a leader of leaders, you will deliver through exceptional engineering leaders, Senior and Principal engineers and technical program managers, hiring and developing a world-class engineering team. As a strong people leader you will champion diversity and inclusion in your team and organization., 10+ years of relevant engineering experience 5+ years of experience, managing engineers and managers Experience in partnering with product and program management teams Bachelor s degree in Computer Science/Engineering 10+ years of experience in software development 6+ years of experience in engineering people management and career development 2+ years of experience leading large team as leader of leaders Strong technology background, especially in a service-oriented environment with a deep understanding of software development. Deep understanding of project and program management with 5-7 yrs of experience in a fast paced environment taking a product through its complete lifecycle using Agile methodologies and delivering highly scalable and robust systems. Excellent written and verbal communication skills Proven track record of leading large cross-functional software projects and on-time delivery. Ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders and key partners to deliver key goals for the program. Needs proven ability of influencing without authority across key partners. Strong judgment in balancing long term strategic investments with near term business goals. Able to provide technical architectural guidance and direction throughout the project lifecycle. Strong people development skills with ability to hire, engage, develop and retain top engineering talent. Advanced degree (Masters/PhD) in Computer Science or Engineering or business (MBA) Experience with e-commerce platforms, grocery shopping or supply chain Experience with large scale distributed systems and service oriented architecture. Experience with Machine Learning (esp in computer vision) Experience with Hardware and Firmware engineering Experience with Amazon Web Services Experience with Agile software development methodologies.
