Test Lead - SQL/JMeter

Job Description

Working as part of the University Operations Portfolio, this position plays a lead role in testing for the Student Experience team and is accountable for the complete and rigorous testing of developed and supported applications.- The role will manage the end-to-end testing lifecycle from development of test strategy plans and scripts to acceptance in production environment.- The tester will work with stakeholders within an Agile delivery team and external stakeholders, defining detailed tests, candidates for automation and execution and reporting of testing progress. They will also be hands-on in automating relevant automation candidates.- A key quality indicator is the identification and resolution of issues impacting the quality and stability of applications, and reporting on progress and status of applications under development prior to release.Key Accountabilities :- Develop automated test scripts for RESTful and SOAP web service testing using tools such as SOAPUI/ReadyAPI/Postman.- Write SQL queries to extract data from various source tables to perform database testing.- Develop automated performance and load testing using tools such as LoadUI/JMETER.- Ensure Testing artifacts are stored within a code management source.- Produce Test Summary Reports for the testing outcome.- Manage and maintain an agile test strategy which will include approaches for unit, system, integration, acceptance and other forms of testing.- Act as a subject matter and influence current testing practices by mentoring, training and collaborating with other testers.- Produce accurate test cases, test procedures and test reports when necessary ensuring regular reviews of test cases and test scripts are conducted to ensure up-to-date documentation.- Review and enhance developer-generated unit tests. Work with agile tools (e.g. Jira, Bitbucket, Jenkins) to integrate test results or automated tests running from a continuous integration environment.- Work with product owners, systems engineers and development teams, to ensure compliance to document acceptance criteria for product backlog items is followed and desired outcomes achieved.- Coordinate all aspects of Integration testing including specifications, test plans/scenarios/approach, test summary reports and building of all testing environments.- Ensure best practices are in place for Continuous Delivery, fully automated builds and that accurate testing is provided documented and achieved.- Provide After-hours support as required.Key Selection Criteria :1. Minimum 3-5 years of testing experience. More experience is preferred2. Significant experience using automated RESTful and SOAP web service testing tools (e.g. SOAPUI/ReadyAPI/Postman) on software development projects.3. Deep understanding of web services and related technologies (e.g. REST/SOAP/JSON/XML)4. Extensive experience in all test activities (Test Plans, Test Cases, Test Scenarios, Test Approach, Test Summary Reports and setting up testing environments) with a focus on integration testing.5. Expertise with SQL and Relational databases.6. Expertise in data-driven automation using external sources like excel, JSON.7. Demonstrated extensive experience in testing programs in large, multi-site, national organization/s and with large IT Projects (>$5 million) containing significant organizational change component and/or extensive experience within a higher education organization, i.e. University or TAFE.8. Demonstrated business analysis skills and ability to engage all project personnel including technical and non-technical stakeholders - excellent communication and interpersonal skills.9. Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a technical team with an ability to mentor other technical team members as required.10. Knowledge of Integration Platforms like MuleSoft and Red Hat Fuse ESB desirable.Qualifications : Relevant Testing certifications desirable
