UX / UI Designer

Job Description

Job Purpose

Roles and Responsibilities:

The User Experience Designer will be working within the Life Sciences division of Clarivate Analytics, on existing and new web- based applications intended to meet the needs of professionals working in the drug research and discovery phase of drug development.

The User Experience Designer is responsible for meeting design objectives of individual projects (e.g. user research, delivering user interface designs to specification, validating usability with testing, etc) but also to support the strategic goals to increase the awareness and impact of User Experience (UX) activities across the organisation s range of products.

Take responsibility for the user interface (UI) design of individual projects within the Life Sciences portfolio, throughout the entire product lifecycle, from initial ideation and conceptualisation through to final design deliverable.

Work collaboratively and actively with project teams to develop UI designs for projects.

Proficient in all aspects of User Centred Design process

Adhere to UX best practice and standards.

Understand and follow product design specification and brand identity standards.

Produce design concepts and translate these into optimal design solutions.

Ability to assist in all aspects of usability testing from protocol writing to analysis and presentation of findings

Communicate and present all aspects of work coherently to all project team members.

Estimate project effort required.

Work and report to a project plan/timeline.

Manage and record time on projects accurately.

Be responsible for individual project deliverables including field research, usability testing, wireframes, prototypes, user interaction models, work/task- flows, information architecture, schematics, and interface guidelines.

Contribute to the culture of innovation and teamwork and be passionate about UX; Share new ideas and UX insights.

Technical / Professional Skills & Competencies:

UX expertise including hands- on proficiency in problem solving, conceptualization and analysis, wireframe design, information architecture, expert reviews/heuristic evaluation, collaborative design.

Proactively support other team members to share team workload.

Peer reviews, able to give and receive constructive feedback on all UX deliverables.

Familiarity with product development processes (e.g. agile, Kanban)

Practical experience in user research e.g. ethnographic, contextual inquiry, expert user interview

Experience in UX design for multi- platform applications

Proactive thought leadership in User Experience issues and trends.

Life Sciences (biology, chemistry, pharma industry, bio/chemo/pharmaco- informatics) domain knowledge is a bonus but not required. The ability to absorb and understand a new domain and user base quickly is essential.

IA/UX Tools Minimum intermediate level E.g. Axure, Adobe Creative Cloud, In Vision, Sketch Microsoft Office

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Active listener, ability to process and synthesize information efficiently and accurately.

Determination to succeed despite obstacles and challenges, and a positive attitude favoring achievement of goals over open- ended investigation.

Proficient note- taker, able to quickly understand and capture assigned tasks and design directions accurately during meetings and design workshops.

Documentation skills, compile clear specifications to designs where required.

Resourcefulness, initiative and independence.

Qualifications

Degree educated in information science, information design, human- computer interaction (HCI), or related technical degree or equivalent work experience. (Essential)
