Audit Intern (Data Science) 2025Group Internal Audit (GIA) is an independent function supporting the Standard Chartered Board and Executive Management team. We do this by helping protect the Groups assets, reputation, and sustainability. GIA represents the Banks third line of defence, we also provide independent assurance on the effectiveness of the management control of business activities (the first line), and the control of processes maintained by risk frameworks and policy owners (the second line).About the programmeOur 6-month Internship Programme gives you the opportunity to gain first-hand experience working on real-world problems, hone your skills, create lasting relationships, gain insights, and discover your strengths. Throughout the programme, youll acquire the skills for immediate success, as well as understand whats required for the future as our industry and your career evolve. A strong performance on the programme could lead to a graduate job offer.Through this immersive programme, youll learn about our Group Internal Audit (GIA) team and the processes, people and roles. Youll gain a thorough understanding of what a career within the GIA team could look like.Your programme will include:

• A one-day orientation introduces you to the Bank and your fellow interns
• Four days of classroom instruction on our products, our business, and our bankers
• On-the-job training and technical seminars to support your learning
• Performance reviews and support of managers, mentors, and buddies
• Presentations by senior management (speaker series) and engagement with executive management
• Networking within the GIA business function and across other divisions
• Gain working experience of Audit tools and Audit Methodologies
• Engaging in community service

As a GIA Intern, you will have the opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience in the field of internal auditing. You will work closely with the Internal Audit team to assess and enhance our internal controls, identify potential risks, and contribute to the overall improvement of our processes.What youll be doing

• Youll gain insights across the Banks audit risk areas using data science / advanced analytics techniques to identify risks and drive innovation.
• Youll work closely with key stakeholders to understand data flow, data points, and advise on how they can be leveraged in the design of data analytical solutions.
• Contributing to design and implementation (includes data sourcing, data preparation, data transformation, and modelling). Deliver predictive outputs and insights in an automated and self-service manner.
• Providing insights and guidance on the interpretation of models/analytics outputs so that appropriate actions can be taken by the audit teams.
• Embrace the agile philosophy and continuously seek feedback for continuous improvement.
• Writing clean, efficient, and well-documented code. Develop and maintain technical documentation.
• Creating and optimising workflows, automation scripts, and business logic to achieve desired automation outcomes.

EligibilityWe welcome students from all degree disciplines and encourage students from diverse backgrounds to apply.Were looking for team players with excellent academic achievements and extracurricular activities, with strong collaboration, project management and technical skills, with the desire to innovate and challenge the status quo.Youll have experience with data science including regression, clustering, and supervised/unsupervised learning, as well as experience with data analysis techniques and data modelling. Youll be an analytical problem solver. Experience with Machine Learning (ML), GenAI, MLOps and statistics would be a plus.You need to be a penultimate year student, able to intern between July 2025 and May 2026.
