Job Description

    Job Title: Product Development Manager Location: Coimbatore Department: Product Development Engineering Reports To: Managing DirectorJob Summary: The Product Development Manager Wiring Harness is responsible for overseeing the entire product development process, ensuring that wiring harness products meet customer requirements and quality standards. This role involves managing the development team, project timelines, and cost control throughout the product lifecycle, from concept to production.Key Responsibilities: Product Design & Development: Analyse electrical and electronic drawings and create technical drawings using CAD software. Develop prototypes and samples of wiring harness products. Perform key steps in designing, developing, and implementing assembly line processes based on Lean Manufacturing concepts for new projects. Conduct time studies to optimize process efficiency. Design and develop assembly fixtures and tools to enhance production quality and efficiency.Process Validation & Quality Assurance: Validate and standardize processes to ensure consistency in production. Conduct crimping cross-section analyses and validate processes for new projects using Statistical Process Control (SPC) studies. Analyse customer complaints and rejections, identify root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions using the 8D methodology. Create boundary samples for process validation and address customer-end suspect complaints.Process Documentation: Prepare and maintain critical process documents, including: o Poka-yoke (Error Proofing) o PFMEA (Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) o Control Plans o Process Flow Diagrams (PFD) o Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) o Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) o Kaizen (Continuous Improvement) documentationProcess Design & Continuous Improvement: Conduct product reviews and process design assessments. Identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance efficiency and product quality. Lead internal audits (Process and Product) to ensure compliance with industry standards and company requirements. Technical Expertise & System Knowledge: Utilize SAP (System Applications and Products in Data Processing) for managing product data and workflow. Design and develop tools and fixtures required for assembly and testing.Required Qualifications & Skills: Bachelors degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering (or a related field). Experience: Minimum 5 years in related industry. Proven experience in product development, preferably in wiring harness manufacturing. Proficiency in CAD software for technical drawing and product design. Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, SPC, PFMEA, APQP, PPAP, and process validation methodologies. Experience in problem-solving techniques like 8D methodology and root cause analysis. Hands-on experience with assembly fixture and tool design. Familiarity with SAP and other enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems. Leadership: Ability to handle and mentor a team of 10 members effectively Strong analytical, organizational, and leadership skills. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities. Languages: Proficiency in English, Hindi & Tamil.Preferred Qualifications: Experience with automotive or electrical component manufacturing. Knowledge of quality management systems and compliance standards.
