Job Description

Director - Government Affairs (GA), One of the Agri Industry Associations (herein after called as - Association)Job Location: New DelhiCompensation: INR 20 lacs per year.The Director Government Affairs is a full time employee of the Company, appointed for such terms and conditions as the Board may decide. The Director GA is responsible for running the day to day relations with stakeholders in Government and its Agencies,The Director GA will report to the Executive Director and to the Director-General of ASSOCIATION.Roles and responsibilities of Director GA.(i) to undertake proactive interest and measures in keeping on top of the day to day matters that are taking place in the relevant Ministries of the Central Government and State Governments and undertake aggressive and effective outreach to the officials concerned in a timely manner.(ii) Policy Advocacy - Builds good rapport with different key personnel in the Central and State Governments and their bodies. Represent effectively the Companys views in various meetings being conducted by the Government and to establish the Company as a thought leader in the area of agri and agri technology. Creates positive impact on the policies of the Government representing the objectives of the Company.(iii) Keeping continuous track of various circulars of Government and Regulatory bodies, changes being made in legal framework that governs the agri industry and matters of interest to the association.(iv) To be a repository of the latest developments in the field of agri and agri Technology around the world, the issues of the agri industry in India and to be able to converse with knowledge, conviction and passion.(v) Prepares all the responses and representations to the Government on behalf of ASSOCIATION in a timely manner, gets them cleared internally before submission and follows up on such submissions to create a positive impact on the thinking process in the Government.(vi) Internal Communication among all the member companies on a continuous basis on all matters of importance related to the matters with Government and its bodies and changes taking place in the external environment.(vii) Budget Management and Administration. Preparation of annual budgets for his/her function, getting them approved by the Management Committee and the Board and controlling the actual expenditure as per budgets.(viii) Forming alliances on behalf of ASSOCIATION with other organizations including end user industries and undertaking joint activities and campaigns as needed.(ix) Organizing conferences/meetings / round tables on behalf of ASSOCIATION.(x) Managing relationships with CII, FICCI, ASSOCHAM, Diplomatic channels, Foundations, NGOs, funding agencies and similar organizations for the benefit of ASSOCIATION. Also managing relationships with the GA Managers of member companies.(xii) External communications as the face of ASSOCIATION - media interactions and other communicationsDesired Qualifications:1. At least a Post Graduate in related field2. Understanding and experience with the intricacies of the issues of agri industry3. Understanding of the regulatory organizations and processes of agri industry4. Good communication skills, ability to work in teams, good inter personal relationships, ability to work with Government and regulatory officials, scientists and other stakeholders.5. Ability to travel as required6. Quick to grasp issues, articulate, draft letters, position papers and other documents7. Good leadership qualities,
